However, please do note that as a general safety rule, only children over the age of 6 years of age are permitted on game drives (this applies only to a few lodges, other lodges might have a different rule regarding this matter). Elewana Kifaru House welcomes families with children of all ages, offering suitable accommodation, children's menus, and kid-friendly safari and cultural activities. A two-bedroom family cottage is perfect for families of up to five, while all other cottages can accommodate up to three guests (two adults and one child).

Elewana Loisaba Star Beds

Elewana Loisaba Star Beds welcomes families with children of all ages. The family double room star bed suite is ideal, offering two double beds and an optional smaller bed, with infant beds available on request. Child-friendly activities include warrior training, guided bush walks, horse and camel rides, visits to the anti-poaching unit, mountain biking, and trips to a Samburu school.

Elewana Sand River Masai Mara

Families with children are most welcome; suitable meals and accommodation options, as well as safari and cultural activities, are available. Only one family suite sleeps a maximum of 5 guests; this family suite will need to be booked well in advance. All other tented suites can sleep a maximum of 2 adults + 2 children, all within the same room.

Encounter Mara Camp

Encounter Mara Camp is family-friendly and welcomes children as young as five. Plenty of activities for young ones, including bow-and-arrow shooting, starting campfires with elephant dung and sticks, and educational bush walks around the camp. Family accommodation includes two family tents and two triple tents.

Finch Hattons

Finch Hattons is family-friendly, with accommodations, facilities, and activities for children aged six and up. Two spacious family suites are available, kids can enjoy fun activities like learning bush survival skills, identifying animal tracks, cooking, and guided nature walks to explore local flora and fauna.

Giraffe Manor

Numerous activities are available for the little ones; they will absolutely love the interactions with the Giraffe and other small animals on the property. Suitable accommodation and meals are available. Children are most welcome, and under three's stay free.

Governors Camp

All ages are welcome and catered for when families stay at Governors Camp with suitable activities, accommodation and meal menus. Family tents sleep up to a family of four, with the kids' beds being in the front area of the tent.

Mara Bush Houses

Either one of the Mara Bush Houses is perfect for families. Mara Bush House is suitable for larger families with three bedrooms, and Acacia Bush House is ideal for smaller families and groups with only two bedrooms. With a private chef and guide at one's sole discretion, your safari can be customised entirely around your family's wants and needs.

Mara Porini Camp

Mara Porini does most certainly welcome families with children, although we suggest that kids of 10 years and upwards would be best suited for a wildlife camp like this (the camp is not fenced in). Suitable family accommodation is available, although with only one family suite available, booking well in advance is recommended.

Naboisho Camp

Naboisho Camp and the Mara Naboisho Conservancy are great safari destinations for families with kids over five. The camp offers two family suites, each with two bedrooms and a shared bathroom. Tailored kids' menus are available, and families can opt for a private safari vehicle for added privacy.

Ol Malo Lodge

Ol Malo Lodge is the ideal safari option for families with children of all ages with suitable safari, cultural and educational activities, as well as fantastic family-friendly accommodation and meal options. Activities for children include; beginner horseback riding, spear throwing with a Samburu Warrior, numerous outdoor games and cultural excursions.

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp

Ol Pejeta Bush Camp is one of the best choices for families on safari who are visiting the Mt. Kenya region of Kenya. Suitable meals and accommodation options (a large two-bedroomed family tent is available) for all children over 5 years of age. A junior ranger programme and activities list for the little ones include; conservation, cultural and, of course, educational options, while the favourite game is "hide and seek" with the anti-poaching dogs (fear not parents).

Porini Rhino Camp

Porini Rhino Camp is child and family-friendly but only for those with older children, as the camp is unfenced and dangerous wildlife does wander through periodically. A family tented suite is now available close to the central guest area and sleeps a total of six. Safari activities are suitable for older children, and these activities are the same as what is available for adults. If you have children aged 10 to 12 and older, this camp is an ideal option.

Rekero Camp

Rekero Camp is perfect for families. Two large family tents with separate bedrooms can accommodate up to five people. Families of four or more are guaranteed a private safari vehicle at no extra cost in the low season. In high season, families with children under 12 must pay extra for a private game-viewing vehicle.
