Whether you are simply after that old World travel experience, on honeymoon, looking for something romantic or merely after some old school luxury then look no further. Rovos Rail is at the top of the travel scale in Africa.
No matter what Rovos safari you choose, be it a short 3-day tour or the 28 day Cape to Cairo safari you are in for a right royal treat. From fantastic views as the country passes you by, to the warm hospitality and scrumptious cuisine to the large and very comfy suites on board. This is one of the Worlds most luxurious travel options, full stop.
We stayed in a "Deluxe Suite" while travelling on Rovos Rail and yes, this suite is large enough for most people. A comfy double bed, sitting area and en-suite bathroom facilities (with shower) was a perfect size. Should you need less space, there is the "Pullman Suites" option that offers a comfortable fold out sofa bed as well as en-suite bathrooms (no sitting area).
Now if you are after something bigger and more luxurious, then Rovos has you covered with the mighty "Royal Suites". These suites take up half a train carriage while offering more all-around space, but it was the bathrooms that took our breaths away. Imagine lying in a bath watching Africa pass you by, well stay in a "Royal Suite", and this could be you. Just remember your pockets need to be rather deep for these suites :)
The other aspect of Rovos that amazed us was the quality of the cuisine served. Whether it was breakfast, lunch or dinner, it was simply amazing.
Now for our favourite part of the journey; that last carriage with an almost viewing kind of deck. Glass of wine in hand watching the railway tracks disappearing into the distance - that was pure unadulterated heaven for us.
All photographs have been taken by us here at Uyaphi.com with the sole purpose of showcasing this amazing safari experience from our perspective.
