Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Cape Town
- See superb views of Cape Town spread out before you from on top of Table Mountain, from mountain-top views to on-the-ground sightseeing; you'll get a great overview of the beautiful South African city of Cape Town.
- Enjoy the tour of Seal Island where you can view the habitat and behaviours of these precious animals from just metres away.
- We then hug the cliffs as we snake along the legendary Chapmans' Peak Drive to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.
- After lunch, (own account) we visit Boulders Beach, where wooden walkways allow you to view the penguins in their natural habitat - the children will just love these curious and cute little creatures.

Day 2: Cape Town
- Kids have oceans of fun at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
- Visit several interesting and diverse exhibits with over 3000 living sea animals, including sharks, fish, turtles and penguins that can be seen in the spectacular underwater nature reserve.
- Afternoon at leisure at the V&A Waterfront.

Day 3: Cape Town
- Historical, glorious Stellenbosch is the warm and wonderful heart of the Cape Winelands, surrounded by stunning wine estates.
- After a short exploration of this historical town, we visit Spier, for a visit to the Cheetah Outreach facility where you have the opportunity (own account) to experience the excitement of a personal encounter with hand raised ambassador cheetahs (Don't forget to bring your camera).
- You can then tuck into your delicious Spier Deli picnic basket in a tranquil setting, whilst allowing the children to expend their boundless energy at the children's playground.
- Next, experience a personal encounter with Eagle and Owls, as the experienced handlers await you to facilitate your introduction to Wally (Wahlberg's Eagle), Fagan (Barn Owl) and Sykes (spotted Eagle Owl).

Day 4: Cape Town
- A day of leisure to either unwind by the pool, stroll along the nearby promenade, or take to the shopping malls for those last minute Cape Town souvenirs.

Day 5: Oudtshoorn
- This morning we depart Cape Town and head for Oudtshoorn, known as the ostrich capital of the world.
- We travel via the town of Montagu on the scenic 'Route 62' to the pretty village of Barrydale.
- We stop for lunch (own account) at the County Pumpkin where you can enjoy an array of South African dishes including traditional Karoo lamb curries, the famous Cape Malay Bobotie, Chicken, Pot Pie and Venison dishes.
- As we approach the outskirts of Oudtshoorn, we pass a number of Ostrich farms where these large flightless birds start dotting the landscape.
Day 6: Oudtshoorn
- Rise and shine, we have an action-packed day ahead! From the intriguing facts and fiction of crocodiles to the extreme beauty of the cheetahs at the Cango Wildlife Ranch, we top that by an exploration of the famous Cango Caves.
- The majesty of these dripstone caverns opening into vast halls of towering stalagmite and stalactite formations will simply take your breath away.
- You've earned a hearty lunch by now, and we've chosen authentic South African hospitality at the Safari Ostrich Farm.
- If you've been longing to ride that ostrich, well after lunch here's your chance.
- At Safari Ostrich Farm, you'll not only learn about the lives of these hardy, enigmatic creatures, but the brave can sit on one, and the adventurous can attempt to ride one!
Day 7: Knysna
- After a hearty breakfast we drive via the spectacular Outeniqua Pass to the town of George, then onto Knysna, perhaps South Africa's most visually stunning resort, in the heart of the famous Garden Route.
- Knysna is synonymous with oysters and no visit is complete without savouring these succulent fruits of the sea.
- We visit the Elephant Sanctuary where we have the exciting opportunity to get close to these gentle giants.
- We next enjoy a tour of the Birds of Eden, a world-class free flight bird sanctuary boasting the world's largest dome – 2 hectares.
- Lastly, we pop across next door to visit Monkeyland, a free-roaming multi-species primate sanctuary, where one will see many cute and adorable species of monkeys and lemurs.
Day 8: Knysna
- Your day is at leisure for you and your family to enjoy at your own pace.
- We recommend a number of optional extra activities from a serene and leisurely cruise on the vast Knysna Lagoon, to an organized excursion to the Featherbed Nature Reserve.
Day 9: Eastern Cape
- We're off on safari!
- Our journey continues eastwards through the glorious indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest to Lalibela Game Reserve.
- The Park boasts the Big Five - elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard - and your hosts at Lalibela Lodge will undoubtedly endeavour to facilitate your viewing of as many of them as possible, as you enjoy a fully inclusive experience, including game drives, from the professional lodge staff and game rangers.
Day 10: Eastern Cape
- An early rise accompanied by tea & coffee before you will experience another day of exciting activities and game viewing.
Day 11: Port Elizabeth - Safari ends
- After breakfast, you will be transferred to Port Elizabeth airport where your 'family safari' comes to an end with treasured memories of South Africa.
