From the moment you walk through the entrance of Africa on Foot, you are greeted with the warm hospitality that follows you through your days on safari here.

Although only a small lodge, the focus here is on walking safaris.

Cradled on the banks of the Great Olifants River, beneath towering fig and natal mahogany trees, lies Ezulwini River Lodge.

Ezulwini, meaning ‘place of paradise’, remains true to its name in the secretive construction of River Lodge, which is a bird-lovers utopia and a wildlife wonderland.

Succumb to bushveld luxury at Ezulwini Billy’s Lodge, which is built on the banks of a riverbed seasonally visited by rain, bringing herds of grazing animals and their predatory counterparts right to the vicinity of the lodge.

Located in the Balule Nature Reserve, a pristine private region of the Greater Kruger Park.

Lion Sands River Lodge is one amazing safari destination with the lodge and suites all looking over the Sabie River and into the Kruger National Park.

nThambo Tree Camp is a small and intimate safari camp in the Klaserie Game Reserve that offers up fantastic wildlife and lodging at a very reasonable price point.

After our recent visit we can in full confidence recommend nThambo and here are the photographs that we took while staying there.

On the numerous games drive here, we had a fantastic time spotting wildlife and birdlife, but it is back at the lodge with the views of the Sand River where we had our best birding opportunities.

It was also back at the lodge while swimming in the pool that a large herd of buffalo and elephant slowly meandered up the river bed - amazing.

Umlani Bush Camp is set in the heart of the Timbavati Game Reserve, offering superb rustic accommodation, hospitality and an authentic safari atmosphere and all of this mixed with some of the best wildlife in the whole of South Africa.

Nothing like a game drive in the Timbavati, an excellent option for those on self-drive safaris. One of the best bushveld camps.
