Introduction
Impodimo is positioned deep in the Madikwe bushveld alongside a rocky ridge with spectacular views out over the reserve and into Botswana.
The lodge herself is unfenced, and it is not uncommon for wildlife (including lion and Wilddog) to walk through. At night one has to have an armed ranger escort you to your room. This unfenced and open feeling is why Impodimo ranks very highly on our scale of all things fantastic.
Expect good wildlife sightings at the lodge's waterhole while birdlife fluttering around the surrounding trees and bushes is exceptional.
Impodimo as a safari destination has for a long time been a firm favourite of ours here at Uyaphi.com. It is the 5-star grading, the friendly hospitality, the excellent guides, spacious and luxurious rooms as well as the fantastic foods that keep us in awe. All of that and we have not even touched on the wildlife!

Rooms and Suites
Eight glass fronted thatched chalets are on offer at Impodimo, each with views out over or into the Madikwe bushveld.
Each of the luxury chalets offers three main areas, a large bedroom with fireplace and reading chairs, bathroom with toilet, large bath, indoor and outdoor showers, and a covered outside verandah.
Now of interest to those who travel with their families or those travelling in a small group there is the rather large two bedroomed deluxe suites. This is where one will get two luxury rooms, an open plan central area with a kitchen, private verandahs, private bathrooms and a private pool all under one roof. Oh and the views from here are outstanding with the waterhole right in from of the suite.
All rooms offer up air-condition, fans and a fireplace. Bed sizes are either in twin or king and both options are draped in mosquito netting. All rooms have a fully stocked mini bar.
Cuisine and Wine
There is one feeling that one cannot get at Impodimo Safari Lodge and that is the feeling of hunger.
Early morning coffee and a few nibbles, a two-course brunch, a rather yummy high tea and a three-course dinner. This is your average day according to your tummy and to top it all off; the food is outstanding.
There is an indoor dining area; this area is used in winter or when it is raining. The outdoor dining area and adjoining boma are primarily used in the summer months.
The bar area is where one has a large choice of South Africa wines, beers and other alcohol including whiskeys, brandies and gins.
Lodge Facilities
The main lodge area offers up an indoor and outdoor dining area as well as an adjoining boma area; there is also a bar, lounge and upstairs library in which to sit back and relax. Our favourite area on the second floor is the viewing deck; it is here with camera, binoculars and some light reading that one can take in the peace and quiet that is all surrounding.

Safari Activities
Two daily game drives are on offer, each led by very knowledgeable and professional guides and trackers. The morning game drive has left the lodge just after sunrise and the afternoon game drive returns only after sunset.
Each drive is around 3 hours long depending on sightings and weather.
During either game drive, we get the chance to stop and have coffee or beer (depending on the time of day) and a few nibbles. This is the chance to stretch those legs and have a chat with the guides - interesting chaps those.
Should you feel like a bit of exercise, Impodimo does offer walking safaris in the bush surrounding the lodge. These walks need to be booked when you are at the lodge. But are well worth the effort.
Family Friendly
Children are most certainly welcome at Impodimo. A kiddies program is on offer where the little ones are entertained and occupied with fun and educational activities that centred around the African bushveld and her wildlife. On arrival, the kids get a personalized pack of goodies and activities to keep them occupied between the game drives.
NOTE: Impodimo Game Lodge is not fenced in and wildlife does wander through the camp occasionally, children here should never be left unattended.
Some of the supervised activities include biscuit baking and decoration, plaster casting of animal tracks, paper mask making, and art using leaves and seeds collected whilst enjoying a guided educational kiddies walk around the camp!
Spa and Wellness
A day in the bush is not complete without an in-room massage treatment by one of the experienced massage therapists. All in the privacy of your private deck.
