Saronsberg Wine Estate
As far as wine tastings go, Saronsberg is pretty spectacular. Driving in the gate, you are met by a giant of a naked man sculpture from which you wiggle your way up the driveway to the parking area under trees and onto the main tasting and gallery area.
The views from the tasting area are out over green grass onto a dam and out over vineyards and onto the mountains in the distance. Pretty spectacular to say the least.
Everywhere you look there are sculptures and paintings by artists including "Norman Catherine", "Diane Victor" and "Angus Taylor" amongst others.
Personally, we loved the wine tasting experience, but then again truth be told we love wine (and I mean any wine). I (James) liked, in particular, the "Earth in Motion" Chenin Blanc while Verity fall head over heels for the "2014 Saronsberg Shiraz". Our combined favourite, however, was without question the "Saronsberg Brut Methode Cap Classique 2012", now that is something that we can drink on a daily basis.
Remember that we are not wine experts by any stretch of the imagination but we liked our experience here, Saronsberg is not just about the wine - it is about the experience.
At the end of the day we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the wine was superb, the staff were super friendly and hospitable while the artwork was fascinating and thought-provoking.
