Safari Itinerary
For most visitors to travelling through South Africa, there is absolutely no better way to view the country than from a 48-hour train safari from Pretoria and Cape Town on board the worlds most luxurious train. This 1600 km voyage through the vast and the scenic Karoo from the Highveld of Pretoria all the way down to the Cape Town's Atlantic Ocean. Rovos Rail is a must do experience, it is certainly better than flying between Johannesburg and Cape Town.
The below itinerary is brief and to the point, as most of the time, one is on the train itself.
Day 1: Cape Town - Matjiesfontein
- 11:00 Depart from platform 23 at Cape Town station and proceed inland via Worcester
- 18:00 Upon arrival at Matjiesfontein guests tour this quaint village
- 19:00 Depart Matjiesfontein
- 19h30 Dinner is served in the dining car/s
Day 2: Matjiesfontein - Kimberley
- 14h30 Upon arrival in Kimberley board the bus for a tour of the Big Hole and museum
Day 3: Kimberley - Pretoria
- 12:00 Arrive Rovos Rail Station, Pretoria
