Reserve Information
The famed Thornybush Game Reserve offers visitors one of South Africa's most exceptional bush experiences. Adjacent to the Kruger National Park, Thornybush comprises 14 000 hectares of pristine wilderness that is teaming with wildlife and birdlife including the "Big 5".
Unspoilt nature and those stunning vistas of the surrounding African bushveld is what a safari here is all about, not forgetting the wildlife on show. Thornybush is up there with the best private reserves not only in South Africa but Southern Africa as a whole.
Rooms and Suites
In total Jackalberry Lodge offers guests the choice of seven thatched bush chalets all with king-sized beds, private verandahs and en-suite bathrooms. En-suite bathrooms all offer bathtubs, indoor and outdoor showers.
The family suite is the perfect accommodation for families as there are two en-suite bedrooms on offer and while offering that much more in terms of space.

Cuisine and Wine
The majestic Drakensberg Mountains provide a spectacular backdrop for you as you enjoy "sundowners" and savoury snacks in this amazing setting. Evenings are filled with sumptuous dinners to be enjoyed "al fresco" at the "boma".
Lodge Facilities
The main lodge area is where one has access to a library, curio shop, lounge and indoor dining area, all of this is under thatch and is decorated in a classic African bushveld theme.
A large swimming pool with sun loungers is the best spot to relax, tan and escape the summer heat.
A Satellite TV and Wi-Wi is available.
Safari Activities
Game drives with experienced guides and tracker take place twice daily, the morning drive starts at the crack of dawn while the afternoon drive leaves in the late afternoon returning when the sun has set.
Should one in interested, game walks after breakfast/ brunch are tailored to suit one's interests and fitness levels. A great way not only to stretch your legs but also to experience all the knowledge that the Shangaan trackers one surrounding wildlife, birdlife, trees, plants, insects and local history and culture.
Family Friendly
Children and families alike are most welcome at Thornybush Jackalberry Lodge. When travelling with the family we would suggest the two bedroomed family suite.

All guests staying within the Thornybush Game Reserve have access to the amazing Amani Spa at Thornybush Game Lodge. One merely has to speak to camp management were one is staying, they will book and transfer you to Game Lodge for a treatment and massage of your choice.
