Introduction
Unashamedly exclusive, the luxurious Kuname Lodge is set in the pristine African bush of the Karongwe Private Game Reserve. With the towering Drakensberg Escarpment to the west and only 45 minutes from the Kruger National Park, the lodge delivers some of the best "Big 5" game viewing opportunities in Southern Africa.
Due to the small and intimate size of the lodge, it is perfect from honeymoon, romance and weekend getaways. Guests can take their time to sit by the pool and sip cocktails or enjoy a glass of champagne while taking in the breathtaking views and diverse landscapes

Reserve Information
Located in the Limpopo Province, Karongwe Private Game Reserve overlooks the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range. Nestled between 4 rivers, it is a sanctuary for wildlife which provides exceptional habitats for a diverse array of flora, fauna and prolific birdlife.
The Makhutswi River runs through the reserve creating a unique biosphere; an untamed and tranquil Eden, rich in wildlife and timeless beauty.
The 21000 acres of land, gives way to the viewing of the sought after Big 5, in particular, the lush environment is one of the best locations to spot the most elusive, Leopard. With inspirational game drives and walking safaris, Karongwe Private Game Reserve is the perfect getaway for a safari and only 45 minutes for the Kruger National Park.
Rooms and Suites
Kuname Lodge is small and intimate, offering just 4 luxury suites and 1 premier honeymoon suite. Due to the makeup of the rooms, no triple or family rooms are available.
All are nestled in the dense African bush with magnificent views of the Kuvenjane River and Drakensberg mountains. The light palette soft furnishings give the rooms a contemporary look and feel without detracting from the warmth and intimacy of the lodge.
The en-suite bathrooms feature both indoor and outdoor baths and showers; romantic turndowns and candlelit baths are part of a special add on service.
Sites do not have mosquito nets, but are air-conditioned and equipped with tea/coffee stations, bathroom amenities, hairdryer and a safe. 220 V. International Adaptors are available in the drawer of the dressing table.
Cuisine and Wine
Dining under the stars outside in the decked boma which overlooks the river is a highlight at Kuname Lodge, while the indoor dining room serves beautifully plated, gourmet evening meals in a Pan African Style. Although communal dining is the norm, the lodge lends its spaces for intimate meals for two.
The private cellar is perfect for romantic dinners and special occasions (subject to availability and prearrangements).
To complement any meal, there is a fine selection of fine South African wines for the cellar, as well as, imported beers, a selection of spirits and soft drinks.
Lodge Facilities
The main lodge area houses both indoor and outdoor dining areas, as well as the well-stocked bar. A refreshing pool looks out over the river, and the lounge area has an enticing fireplace for chilly winter evenings. In an upstairs mezzanine level, guests have a small library with books on wildlife, ecology and the fauna of the region.
Weddings are catered for at Kuname Lodge - romance provided in abundance. A real bush wedding experience, under the canopy of "Fig Tree", beautiful, shady, indigenous trees bordering the Makhutsi River.
State of the art conference facilities (including an auditorium), seating 40 delegates, offers team-building experiences that will educate and inspire.

Safari Activities
The principle of ‘responsible tourism’ is ever-present at Kuname Lodge, with all team members ensuring to the conservation of ecosystems and preserving some of Africa’s endangers species. Game drives that take in the varied and abundant wildlife and birdlife, soon have guests becoming immersed in the ultimate bush experience.
Each open game viewing safari vehicle has a local Shangaan tracker, who is driven by passion; passion for the land, passion for the animals and plants, passion for the community in which they live.
Morning game drives commence after coffee/tea and rusks, as the sun rises and wildlife begins to move about to start their day. The afternoon game drive heads out after afternoon tea and will return as the sun sets and the nocturnal animals make their way out for the evening. Guests will be able to enjoy a sundowner while the sun sets over the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains.
On request and subject to availability of guides, guests have the opportunity to go on foot for a bushwalk. This is one of the best ways to experience the bushveld; get close to the smaller aspects of nature and truly feel the wonderment of the African bush.
