Luxurious Accommodation, Spectacular Wildlife, Sumptuous Cuisine, Experience All Of This At Solio Lodge
Located between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains within the stunning and wildlife-rich Solio Conservancy, home to lions, leopards, cheetahs and, importantly, one of the most successful private rhino (white and black) breeding sanctuaries in the whole of Africa.
Solio Lodge is the only lodge located within the 45,000-acre Solio Wildlife Sanctuary. If one is looking for that luxurious, private and intimate safari option that offers fantastic wildlife and birding, look no further.
It is not uncommon to spot up to 40 different rhinos during a day's activities, excluding all the other wildlife that the reserve has to offer.
The lodge itself has five thatched suites, offering a private and intimate destination. Guests can stay for three to seven nights and enjoy the absolutely stunning views of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains
Solio Lodge is a family-friendly destination with activities designed to accommodate all ages. Experience the best of Solio and all that it has to offer – from its luxurious accommodation, spectacular wildlife views, sumptuous cuisine, and memorable family-friendly activities.
Rooms and Suites
Five large thatched and glass-fronted suites at Solio Lodge offer guests an open-plan bedroom, lounge and fireplace, as well as a separate luxurious en-suite bathroom with double sinks, showers, baths, separate toilets and dressing areas.
From the front of each suite, spectacular views of Mount Kenya are to be had.
A family suite is available and consists of two bedrooms, both with their own en-suite bathrooms.
The suites have been designed using natural materials to blend in with the surrounding landscape. To ensure guests have a comfortable stay, all rooms are outfitted with air-conditioning and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Cuisine and Wine
When it comes to cuisine, Solio Lodge, as with her sister lodges (Giraffe Manor, Sala’s Camp and Sasaab, all by the safari collection), offer guests nothing but the finest when it comes to dining experiences.
Dining locations at the central guest consist of indoor and outdoor venues, or for that special occasion, on the verandah of one's private suite; bush breakfasts whilst out on a game drive are a highlight.
The wine selection at Solio Lodge is nothing short of phenomenal. Guests can enjoy a variety of red and white wines from some of the best vineyards in the world while enjoying the incredible views of the African landscape. Whether dining indoors or out, guests can find the perfect wine to pair with their meal.
Facilities
The thatched and glass-fronted central guest area at Solio Lodge oozes luxury around every corner, with three separate sitting areas (lounge area options), two fireplaces, a small safari shop (upstairs) and a communal dining area.
Outdoors, beautifully manicured grass leads out to a wooden deck under the shade of Acacia trees and out over the plains of the Solio Game Reserve.
Every aspect of the central guest area is pure class, with only the best furnishing having been used. The entire area has been designed to amplify the already commanding views.
An interesting take, WiFi is only available in the rooms, which in our opinion, is absolutely brilliant. This means that guests get to converse while in and around the central guest area; there is nothing wrong with good old-school communication.
Activities
A wide selection of safari and cultural activities is available within the Solio Game Reserve (a rhino breeding reserve) and the Aberdare National Park; activities are listed below.
Kenya Solio Lodge offers a wealth of safari activities to its guests, including game drives, bush breakfasts, walking excursions, Aberdare National Park excursions, and local farm visits.
Horse riding and mountain biking are also available to guests who are seeking a more active safari experience.
A scenic helicopter flight that takes in the surrounding landscape is on offer at an additional cost; if this is within one's budget (a rather expensive activity), it is highly recommended.
In Conclusion
If you're looking for a fantastic safari destination that offers luxurious accommodations and incredible views, Solio Lodge is the perfect place for you!
With activities designed for all ages, Solio Lodge is a family-friendly destination that will leave you with memories to last a lifetime.
Whether you're dining indoors or out, enjoying a game drive or bush breakfast, be sure to enjoy one of the many phenomenal wines from the lodge's wine selection.
With its beautiful design and stunning views, Solio Lodge is a must-visit destination on your next African safari!
