Kafunta Three Rivers Camp is positioned at the confluence of "three rivers", namely; the Luangwa, Kapamba and Lusangazi in South Luangwa region of Zambia.
A small and intimate camp where wildlife and birdlife sightings and photography are the main attractions; the area, offers up sightings that include large herds of elephants and buffalos, giraffe, antelope, wild dog and lion to mention only but a few.
Only five tented suites sit under shady sausage trees facing the Luangwa River or the game-rich lagoon all featuring a unique private sleep-out platform for a night or six out under the stars.
Note; Three Rivers Camp is a seasonal safari option only and is open from 25 May to 1 November.
Rooms and Suites
Five spacious tents elegantly decorated all with stunning views of the river (2x) or lagoon (3x), all offer guests a wooden viewing deck, large bedrooms with mosquito netting and of course, en-suite bathroom facilities with indoor and outdoor showers.
Two of the tented suites have views of the Luangwa River while the other three have views of an oxbow lagoon; both options offer excellent vistas and wildlife sightings.
And now for the unique aspect or selling point, if you will, each of the five suites offers guests their own private sleep-out, a raised platform in which one can spend the night surrounded by the sounds of Africa under a canopy of stars.
Cuisine and Wine
The camp kitchen's exciting team offers up delicious meals daily; sumptuous buffets for brunch, delicious early morning and afternoon high tea, and elegant candlelit dinners served by the river's edge.
A few dietary requests are catered for but not all, please confirm when booking a safari at Kafunta Three Rivers Camp.
Facilities
The central guest facilities at Kafunta Three Rivers Camp are located on the banks of the Luangwa River, a small and intimate affair consisting of a tented lounge, bar and dining area with a wooden viewing deck. From all vantage points, one views the River and surrounding floodplains teeming with hippos, crocodiles and fantastic birdlife.
The fire pit on the deck is the place to unwind after dinner with the sounds of Africa surrounding.
Activities
Kafunta Three Rivers Camp are based around game drives in the South Luangwa National Park and walking safari options around the camp and along the spectacular Luangwa River.
Short night drives are available before dinner; these drives are based around the camp and not into the National Park.
