In the heart of Tarangire National Park, one of the most magnificent places in Africa (never mind Tanzania) for wildlife sightings, one comes across Little Oliver’s Camp. Perfectly positioned within the Tarangire to make the most of the spectacular wildlife and landscapes this unspoilt wilderness Park has to offer.
Small and yet very exclusive, Little Oliver’s is just a kilometre away from the main, Oliver’s Camp. The camp overlooks a flood plain of the Minyoyo Pools and out over the magestic Tarangire National Park teaming with wildlife and birdlife.
The camp itself is intimate and personal (small enough to call your own), just the place for small groups or families looking for a totally private safari.
Little Oliver’s 5 well-appointed tented suites are beautifully furnished with handmade pieces crafted from the timber of old trading dhows that plied the East African coast in earlier times.
Each tent has full en-suite facilities with both indoor and outdoor showers as well as a large, private deck that overlooks the sweeping floodplain beyond.
- In-room lockable box
- Complimentary laundry service
- Solar & generator power
- Battery-charging facilities
The home-made gourmet-style food is quite delicious whether it be breakfast, lunch or dinner or anything in between for that matter. If of course you’d like to eat in the bush, you can request a packed breakfast or lunch to take with you in the morning, or simple opt for a bush breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Breakfast is a satisfying spread and includes cereals, muesli, fruit, yoghurt, French toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and occasionally a cheese board.
The buffet lunch is accompanied by a variety of salads followed by dessert.
Dinners are a delectable three-course affair.
Game drives; offered twice daily in open-sided game-viewing vehicles. Highly skilled guides will share their detailed understanding of the surrounding wilderness. Vehicles have power points where you can recharge your devices.
Night drives; enjoy a night game drive and look for the nocturnal animals of Tarangire with a powerful spotlight.
Walking safaris; walking safaris in a national park simply cannot be missed. Learn about wildlife, spoor and the flora and fauna of the area.
Fly camping; (optional) sleeping out in a lightweight fly camp with nothing more than a tent, a guide and a small team of staff.
Hot-air balloon safaris; (optional) a romantic and evocative balloon safari.
Families with children aged five and older are warmly welcomed in Little Oliver’s. Although it is best if the entire camp is occupied by a small family group.
