In the southwest corner of Lake Victoria lies an extraordinary example of wildlife conservation, Rubondo Island National Park. Rubondo Island at its widest is 10km and at its longest 26km with more than 75% covered in pristine and untouched equatorial rainforest.
The island and her forest is a haven for wild chimpanzees, sitatunga antelopes, elephants and giraffes.
Rubondo Island Camp is the only Lake Victoria Lodges option on the island, therefore, offering guests the ultimate in exclusivity and privacy when on safari.
Please note, the only way of getting here is by chartered light aircraft and of interest, one can fly in directly from Kigali to easily combine this wild island escape with an epic gorilla encounter in Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park.
Eight thatched-roofed cottages (including one larger family cottage) are all situated on the waterfront of Lake Victoria. All cottages offer high ceilings, a private terrace overlooking the lake, king-sized beds (with mosquito netting), en-suite bathrooms with indoor shower, basin and flushing toilet.

The stunning and wild Rubondo Island is 26 km long and 10 km at its widest point and is mostly covered in pristine forest that supports both wildlife and fantastic birdlife.

Of particular interest; between November and March, wild orchids bloom, attracting a dazzling array of butterflies.

A small yet delicious child orientated menu is available, especially for those fussy eaters.
