Lake Victoria Lodges
Welcome to our small selection of safari lodges and camps, all based on the banks and islands of Africa's largest freshwater lake, Lake Victoria. With a surface area of 60 000 km², the lake is massive, three countries (Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya) share the lake, but it is Tanzania that occupies about half of it.
Lake Victoria as a destination is typically off the traditional Tanzania safari circuit as it does not share the wildlife numbers that the other smaller Rift Valley lakes such as Lake Nakuru or Manyara do.
But there are a few hidden secrets, of course, with one of them being the Rubondo Island National Park. The virtually uninhabited Rubondo Island is your chance to get up close and personal with chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, hippos and the shy sitatunga antelopes, not forgetting stunning birdlife sightings.
Note; swimming in the lake itself is not always an option as the waters are quite often infested with bilharzia.
At Uyaphi.com, we offer visitors a small yet intimate collection of the best Lake Victoria Lodges And Camps for those seeking out a few nights on the banks or islands of this, Africa's largest lake. Click here for our full portfolio of lodges in Tanzania.
