Lake Victoria Lodges
Welcome to our small selection of safari lodges and camps all based on the banks and islands of Africa's largest freshwater lake, Lake Victoria. With a surface area of 60 000 km², the lake is massive, three countries (Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya) share the lake, but it is Tanzania that occupies about half of it.
Lake Victoria is typically off the traditional safari circuit as it does not share the wildlife numbers that the other smaller Rift Valley lakes such as Lake Nakuru or Manyara do.
But there is a few hidden secrets of course, with one of them being the Rubondo Island National Park. The virtually uninhabited Rubondo Island is your chance to get up close and personal with chimpanzees, elephants, giraffes, hippos and the shy sitatunga antelopes, not forgetting stunning birdlife sightings.
Note; swimming is not always an option as the waters are infested with bilharzia.
At Uyaphi.com, we offer visitors a small yet intimate collection of the best accommodation options for those seeking out a few nights on the banks or islands of Lake Victoria.
