Serena Lodge; A Safari Resort Like No Other Overlooking The Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is perched high up on the Mto Wa Mbu escarpment in northern Tanzania, offering visitors some of the best views of Lake Manyara National Park and the Great Rift Valley.
Located in the northern section of the Lake Manyara National Park, with easy access to all the wildlife and birdlife below. The lodge is surrounded on all sides by lush green grass, gardens and forests.
The highlight of the Lake Manyara National Park is, without question, the shallow soda lake teeming with flamingos; the birdlife here is the right royal treat. And let us not forget the famed tree-climbing lions, herds of elephant, zebra and wildebeest.
It is important to keep in mind that this is more of a safari resort than a traditional safari lodge.
As such, the rooms are more like hotel rooms than the usual safari lodge suite that we offer.
The 67 rooms at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge are all located in chalets spread out across the manicured grounds.
The public areas of the lodge are also very spacious, with several different areas to relax in, including a bar, restaurant, infinity pool, library and lounge.
The Lake Manyara National Park is relatively small, so it is very easy to see all the wildlife in a short space of time.
Accommodation here at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is designed to look like typical traditional tribal dwellings with thatched roofing and thick stone walls; there are, on average, 4 rooms per thatched cottage.
The guest rooms offer basic yet comfortable furnishing, en-suite bathrooms and a veranda with views of the shimmering Lake Manyara.
The decor is on the vibrant side and showcases Maasai people's love of all things bright and colourful.

The circular main dining terrace, with its stunning views, offers guests the choice of indoor or outdoor seating.
Breakfasts and lunches are based around a buffet. Breakfasts typically offer Full English or Continental options, while lunches offer up a variety of bread, meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian options.
Dinner menu items are varied, while starters and desserts are buffet style.
The main guest areas feature a reception, dining room, bar area and veranda, as the lodge is perched high up on cliffs of the escarpment; there are stunning views out over Lake Manyara National Park from all locations.
The swimming pool is a highlight, as is the nearby observation point.
The central guest area, or main area of Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, has a number of facilities and amenities for guests to enjoy during their stay. These include free Wi-Fi, use of the dedicated satellite TV room, telephone, gift shop, Safari Boutique gift shop, room service, conference room, and computer room.
A whole host of activities are on offer when staying at Lake Manyara Serena Lodge, no matter what your preferences might be. The main activities, of course, are morning and afternoon game drives into the Lake Manyara National Park itself.
Additional safari activities include nature walks, bird watching and canoeing safaris on the picturesque Lake Manyara.
There are also opportunities for Swahili language lessons, cooking lessons, jogging and traditional instrument lessons.
The lodge is also home to a well-equipped archery range.
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is both family and child-friendly, offering everything from family accommodation options to child-based activities and menus all the way through to babysitting.
This Serena Lodge is a firm favourite with families that are seeking adventure activities and a great safari experience.
The lodge does offer manicures, pedicures and deep-tissue massages in a small Spa area located in-house; all spa and wellness options are for your own account, however.
- Beauty therapy
- Massage service
- Body stretch lessons
In Conclusion
Lake Manyara Serena Lodge is a beautiful safari resort that offers guests comfortable accommodations, delicious cuisine and plenty of activities to enjoy during their stay.
