Introduction
Andersson's at Ongava will be opening in April 2019 after a total refurb.
The atmosphere of Andersson's Camp makes for a comfortable modern-day base for exploring this world-class wildlife destination.
The area containing Africa's largest salt pan was 'discovered' by Sir Francis Galton and Charles Andersson in 1851, and the camp takes its name from that of the famed Swedish explorer.
Surrounded by scrub-covered plains on white calcrete soils and against the backdrop of the low Ondundozonanandana Mountains, Anderssons Camp is situated close to Etosha National Park. A former farmstead has been tastefully rebuilt and now forms the central area fronting onto a waterhole. From here twenty tented guest units radiate outwards - mostly secluded in the mopane woodland so typical of the area.
Rooms and Suites
The tents at this Etosha Luxury Camp are a clever mix of calcrete stone cladding, canvas, and wood each elevated on wooden decks.
These unusual, organic-style tents have double-door entrances and a small veranda with uninterrupted views. The en-suite bathrooms feature a uniquely designed open-air private shower.
Lodge Facilities
Energy-saving initiatives include solar-heated water for showers, while throughout the camp most of the natural vegetation has been retained.
Safari Activities
Andersson's Camp's proximity to Etosha is ideal for full-day self-drives into the Park which take in the plethora of game found here.
Etosha National Park is Namibia's premier wildlife destination, and at almost the size of Switzerland, it is certainly one of Africa's largest game parks.
Large herds of plains game concentrate around the waterholes in the dry season, while the summer months' sporadic rainfall produces a profusion of new life - pronking baby springbok and comical young wildebeest herald the onset of summer.
Family Friendly
Andersson's Camp does welcome families and children with open arms.
