Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Hoarusib River
- Departing from Palmwag Lodge to Sesfontein and Opuwo over the Sesfontein Pass.
- The trail continues in a westerly direction and stops for a short visit at Kaoko Otavi.
- Encounter various Ovahimba families.
- Camping on the banks of the Hoarusib River.
- Meals: Dinner
- Accommodation: Wild Camping
Day 2: Orupembe
- Time and again one meets Ovahimba families, and the guest will have, if not today, the opportunity to explore an Ovahimba village as well as a traditional hut.
- The guest learns about the customs and way of life of this nomadic tribe.
- The Ovahimba gratefully accept sugar, confectionery, tobacco and other trinkets as gifts.
- Overnight open camp in the region of Orupembe, a large Ovahimba settlement.
- Meals: All meals

Day 3: Kunene River
- We continue into the western part of Kaokoland into the Marienfluss and Hartmann Valley.
- Our destination today is the Kunene river area.
- Tonight we wild-camp on the banks of the Kunene River under the shade of anatrees.
- Meals: All meals
- Accommodation: Wild Camping
Day 4: Kunene River
- Today we explore the area, including a visit to an Ovahimba family, 4x4 sightseeing tour and short hikes in and around the gorges and valleys of the Hartmann Valley
- The Hartmann Valley is unique with desert landscapes, a mighty river and mountains and valleys.
- Meals: All meals
- Accommodation: Wild Camping
Day 5: Orupembe
- Today we say "Adieu Camp Cafema" and embark on our return journey to Palmwag.
- Via Rooidrom the journey takes us through the western Kaokoland to Orupembe.
- We traverse almost deserted contrasting landscapes, ranging from desert to the Kaokohighland.
- Camping on the public campsite at Purros.
- Meals: All Meals
- Accommodation: Communal Camping
Day 6: Hoanib River
- After breakfast, the journey continues in a southerly direction through the beautiful Hoarusib River Valley towards the Hoanib River.
- With a bit of luck, the desert elephant can be sighted. Camping in one of the many branches of the Hoanib River.
- Small herds of elephant often stroll past the camp unhindered.
- Meals: All Meals
- Accommodation: Wild Camping
Day 7: Palmwag Lodge, Safari Ends
- Break up camp and game drive in search of elephants.
- After a short sojourn at Sesfontein, a one-time Schutztruppen outpost which functions as a lodge nowadays, the journey takes us back to Palmwag Lodge.
- End of Tour.

Erongo Wilderness Lodge
Erongo Wilderness Lodge is nestled amid granite formations on the outskirts of an ancient volcano; these are the Erongo Mountains, the lodge has 10 tented chalets, built on stilts, set against towering granite formations.
Halali Rest Camp
Halfway between Okaukuejo and Namutoni and is situated at the base of a dolomite hill, amongst shady Mopane trees, a floodlit waterhole which is viewed from an elevated vantage point provides exceptional wildlife viewing.
Shipwreck Lodge
Shipwreck Lodge inside the famed "Skeleton Coast National Park" offers up sand dunes, rugged coastlines, icy cold Atlantic Ocean, wind-swept plains and not forgetting the desert wildlife that surrounds including desert lion, elephant and rhino to mention but a few.
Büllsport Guestfarm
Büllsport Guestfarm is the perfect option for those who want a bit more of a private experience but without sacrificing location and activities. Büllsport is located 155 kilometres drive from Sossusvlei and offers up farm-style accommodation with hiking, horse riding and 4x4 safari activities. Highly recommended.
