Porini Rhino Camp, An Unforgettable Safari And Wildlife Experience In The Ol Pejeta Conservancy
The classic Porini Rhino Camp located in the wildlife-rich 90,000-acre Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of those classic tented safari camps that is a must-stay for most people visiting this region of Kenya.
The famed Ol Pejeta Conservancy offers up exceptional wildlife, including the "Big 5", as well as a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees. Birdlife in the area is also rather good for those twitchers out there.
An unforgettable wildlife experience awaits when staying at Porini Rhino Camp, with outstanding wildlife, excellent accommodation and views that extend from the foothills of the Aberdares and the magnificent snow-capped Mount Kenya.
Rooms and Suites
The environmentally friendly Porini Rhino Camp offers guests a choice of eight tented safari suites located in a tranquil corner of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy; acacia trees and natural bushveld surround all suites.
All of the guest tents offer covered verandahs and large bedrooms that can accommodate a couple or a family of four (with added bedding). All suites offer en-suite bathrooms with showers, hot and cold water and flushing toilets.
Each suite has been sited to offer a high degree of privacy, and all the while offers up stunning views of the surrounding area. Bird spotting and photography around the camp is excellent.
Cuisine and Wine
The cuisine prepared by the camp Chef and the team in the kitchen is of excellent quality; Porini Rhino Camp will most certainly not disappoint. Fresh and locally sourced ingredients are the backbone of all meals, no matter the time of day.
Picnic lunches are served out in the bush when one is on a full days game drive. Most meals are served in and around the central guest area in both indoor and outdoor locations.
Dietary requests can be catered for, but only with advanced notice.
Facilities
The central guest area at Porini Rhino Camp is based around a classic mess tent that offers guests a small but comfortable lounge area, dining room and bar.
The central guest area is a basic affair but fits in with the surrounding environment and ethos of the camp. A water hole in front of the camp is teeming with both wildlife and birdlife; a fantastic opportunity for photographers awaits.
Activities
The Ol Pejeta Conservancy, in which Porini Rhino Camp is found, guarantees an unforgettable safari experience with fantastic daily wildlife and birdlife sightings.
Morning and afternoon game drives are the most popular activities, giving guests the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife, including rhinos, elephants, lions, leopards, and numerous species of plains game.
Night drives in custom safari vehicles are also a thrilling option for those looking to see different animals like hyenas and jackals.
For a more relaxed experience, guided nature walks escorted by Maasai warriors are available, as well as sundowners and bush picnic lunches.
Child Friendly
Porini Rhino Camp is child and family-friendly but only for those with older children, as the camp is unfenced and dangerous wildlife does wander through periodically. A family tented suite is now available close to the central guest area and sleeps a total of six.
Safari activities are suitable for older children, and these activities are the same as what is available for adults.
If you have children aged 10 to 12 and older, this camp is an ideal option.
In Conclusion
If you're looking for an unforgettable safari and wildlife experience, look no further than Porini Rhino Camp.
This classic tented safari camp offers guests a chance to see the "Big Five" as well as a sanctuary for rescued chimpanzees.
With spectacular views of Mount Kenya, unique wildlife species and excellent cuisine, you'll be sure to have a fantastic time at this camp!
