At Serian Nkorombo, Experience The Surrounding Mara Wildlife And Birdlife At This Intimate Tented Camp
Serian Nkorombo Camp is a little different compared to the other Serian camps in Kenya. Think of Nkorombo more as a traditional tented mobile camp yet permanently placed on the banks of the Mara River.
Serian Nkorombo is a small and intimate classic tented camp situated in the Masai Mara Reserve. There are only five tented suites, making for an exclusive and intimate experience.
For wildlife lovers, Serian Nkorombo Camp is located on the banks of the Mara River, not too far from one of the main migration river crossings, and right next to a salt lick that regularly hosts black rhinos, lions and leopards.
Game drives are exceptional in the area and offer sightings of the Big Five as well as many other wildlife species.
For birders in East Africa, the surrounding wild olive and orange croton trees host a large variety of birds; a short walk around camp with cameras in hand will yield excellent results.
This fantastic little mobile camp, perfect for any Masai Mara safari, is set on a private riverside site in the Masai Mara Reserve.
Rooms and Suites
Serian Nkorombo Camp, with only five large tented suites, blends seamlessly into its stunning surroundings, each with private views out over the Mara River.
A covered outdoor sitting area leads into a large ‘Selous style’ tented suite with a king-sized bed, writing desk and en-suite bathroom.
The en-suite bathrooms offer up flushing toilets and bucket showers (both hot and cold water).
The five tented suites are more in line with that classic safari experience of years gone by.
Cuisine and Wine
As with all Serian Camps in Kenya and the Maasai Mara National Reserve region, the cuisine is outstanding and is prepared with only the best and freshest ingredients sourced locally or brought in from Nairobi.
Breakfasts, lunches, high tea, picnic options and dinners are of the highest standards.
Weather depending, three-course dinners are served out under a canopy of stars on the banks of the Mara.
The wine selection at Serian Nkorombo Camp is excellent, with a variety of red and white wines on offer (as well as numerous beer varieties.
Most Dietary preferences are catered for with advance notice.
Facilities
The tented central guest area at Serian Nkorombo Camp is a welcoming and relaxed affair with both indoor and outdoor vantage spots in which one can sit back and take in all that surrounds.
The mess tent is all under canvas with a lounge, a small library and a dining area decorated in that typical upmarket decor that Serian is known for. It is here where one can sit back with a good book in hand and simply relax.
Outdoors, is all about experiencing the Mara River, the surrounding views, the birdlife and wildlife.
As with all Serian camps, there is no WiFi available. We at Uyaphi.com absolutely love this aspect; being disconnected from the outside world is not as scary as one would think. Have a look-see at our other Masai Mara lodges should an internet connection be essential to one's life.
Activities
Safari activities are exclusively based around game drives; morning, afternoon and full-day drives are options. Each group that stays at Serian Nkorombo Camp has exclusive use of a safari vehicle, guide and tracker; in other words, you do not share game drives with people not part of your booking.
One of the best camps for sighting and photographing the annual migration, as one of the river crossings is found not too far from mobile camp.
Wildlife in this area is rather spectacular, to say the least, especially around the time of the migration. Should you be visiting the camp outside of the annual migration time frame, you will still be impressed with what wildlife and birdlife are on offer.
All in all, we would recommend this camp for year-round wildlife sightings.
In Conclusion
