Xugana Island Lodge Information
- Lodge type; Safari Lodge
- Location; Okavango Delta
- Lodge size; 8 safari chalets
- Recommended stay; 3-7 nights
Xugana Island Lodge is situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, nestling under a canopy of wild Ebony and Garcinia trees facing onto the tranquil blue waters of Xugana Lagoon.
Xugana Lagoon has, for thousands of years, been a haven for the Bushman people who hunted this pristine water world. Xugana Lagoon is in the permanent Delta, a world of crystal clear waterways winding through the vast reed and papyrus beds, opening unexpectedly onto tranquil lagoons.
Xugana means "kneel down to drink".
Rooms and Suites
Xugana lodge accommodates just 16 guests in large raised reed and thatch chalets, situated on the shaded fringe of the Xugana Island, each with a lagoon view through the lagoon-side vegetation. Each chalet is twin bedded with en-suite facilities, showers, overhead fans and a private deck. His & Hers Robes are provided.
Your stay at Xugana Island Lodge is inclusive of accommodation, all meals, local brand drinks, emergency medical evacuation insurance to the regional medical facility, scheduled safari activities and our complimentary laundry service.
This Okavango Delta Island Lodge is situated on a private concession and takes full advantage of this magnificent site. An open boma and al fresco dining area overlooks the expanse of pristine water that makes up the permanent Delta.
The lounge, bar and dining areas are set back under an Ebony and African Mangosteen tree canopy in open-sided thatched structures, and the swimming pool, located within the mature gardens in the centre of the island, is a perfect place to relax.
Exploring the Delta by motorboat or canoe (mokoro), combined with walking on surrounding islands in the concession, gives guests the chance to experience a classic Okavango Delta safari.
Bird-watching opportunities are outstanding, and fishing for bream and tiger fish is also offered as an activity at the lodge.
