Introduction
Duba Plains Camp is the setting for wildlife connoisseurs seeking out the best that the Okavango Delta has to offer. Remote and wild while being only accessible via air, Duba Plains with only six luxurious suites on offer is the destination of choice for those in the know.
The Duba area is home to Lion, Lechwe, Elephant, Aardwolf, Bat-eared fox, Side-striped jackal and vast herds of Buffalo, as well as a large variety of Okavango Delta bird life. Wattled Cranes and Slaty Egrets are some of the Okavango specials found in the area.
For the ultimate safari, combine Duba with Zarafa Camp in the Selinda Reserve.
Rooms and Suites
Raised off the ground, all five tented suites from their private viewing decks offer guests incredible views of the surrounding floodplain and the steady stream of wildlife parading past.
A lounge area, writing desk and king-sized bed with mosquito netting, outdoor verandah (perfect for a private dinner or two), private plunge pool and enough space to swing a cat is what one can look forward too when staying at Duba Plains Camp. All of this naturally, with the finest furnishing and decor from a camp of this stature.
Large en-suite bathrooms with flushing toilet, his and her hand basins, both indoor and outdoor shower options and a large bathtub are all standard features.
Separate to the main camp is the 'Duba Plains Suite', a more private intimate affair with two lounge areas, two en-suite bedrooms with private verandahs, private kitchen (with a private chef) and one's own swimming pool. Should you have deep pockets and a need to complete and utter privacy, look no further.
Every tent, including the Duba Plains Suite, come with a complete camera kit of the latest Canon 5D, 100-400mm and wide angle lens in addition to a pair of 8x42 binoculars for guest’s complimentary private use.
Cuisine and Wine
As with Duba Plains's sister camp 'Zarafa Camp', one can expect nothing less than the very best when it comes to cuisine. Meals are as varied as the locations they are enjoyed in; picnic breakfasts and lunches, private dining or group dining either at the lodge or out in a safari setting. Most dietary requests are catered for with advance notice.
Should you be staying in the Duba Plains Suite, the services of a private host and chef are part and parcel of the package.
A highlight of ones stay is the "Wine Celler" with a selection of hand-picked fine wines from only the best vineyards in South Africa, that is of course if you appreciate good wines.
Meals and beverages (excluding premium spirits and Champagne) are included in ones stay.
Lodge Facilities
The central guest areas include lounge, library, large dining area, wine cellar and a media room, all under canvas with luxury furnishings and exquisite safari/ African inspired decor.
Outdoor wooden decks with amazing views offer up a dining area and sitting area with an open firepit. This area is lit at night by hurricane lanterns, adding to the ambience of what is already a spectacular lodge in a spectacular location.
All areas look out over the surrounding floodplains and waterways teaming with both birdlife and wildlife.
Safari Activities
The main safari activities at Duba Plains Camp are naturally game drives in large open 4x4 vehicles that seat a maximum of 7 guests at any one time, each guest getting an outside seat for those spectacular wildlife sightings.
When the water levels of the surround Okavango Delta channels are high enough, Mokoro safaris are then available.
Short walking safaris are available departing from either the camp or the 4x4 vehicle when out on safari.
Family Friendly
Families with kids over the age of eight years old are most welcome. Child-friendly activities and meal options are available.
This is a malaria area and dangerous wildlife does pass through the camp from time to time, parents need to be vigilant.
