Introduction
Situated in the 135 000-hectare Selinda Wildlife Reserve in the far northern reaches of Botswana, Selinda is all about the wildlife and birdlife of the area. One of the last true wilderness areas is home large herds of elephants, antelope and buffalo, wild dogs, lion, cheetah and leopard.
Wrapped in a layer of luxury and surrounded by the wildlife-rich floodplains of the Selinda, this upmarket camp offers a private and exclusive experience for her guests with only eight suites available at any one time.
The Camp is only accessible by air, either by scheduled or private air charters.
Rooms and Suites
Eight spacious and luxurious tented suites are under thatch with canvas sides overlook expansive floodplains and channels of the Selinda. A viewing deck leads into a bedroom that offers up a writing desk, small sitting area and a king-sized bed.
En-suite bathrooms facilities consist of his and her hand basins, stand-alone bathtub, shower and flushing toilet. The bathroom is a very lavish affair.
Of the eight suites, one is set aside for those travelling with children and comes with two bedrooms.
Cuisine and Wine
The cuisine on offer is of the highest standards especially when one takes into account the remoteness of the camp. Meals are varied as are the dining locations.
Included in the rates; early morning light breakfast; late morning brunch; afternoon tea; three-course dinner as well as all beverages (except for premium imported brands and champagne).
Most dietary requests are catered for with advance notice.
Lodge Facilities
The Camp's central guest area is raised off the ground by a wooden and thatched platform from which the views out over surrounding floodplains and channels. Under thatch, a small lounge and library is a great place to kick back and relax, a dining area as well as a seating area with built-in firepit.
Off to one side, a small swimming pool with deck chairs. A curio shop and gallery are found a short walk away, the gallery showcases photographic work from Beverly Joubert.
The decor, influenced by the surrounding waters and flora of the Selinda. All in all, this is an excellent space to spent time soaking up all that surrounds.
Safari Activities
Safaris activities are centred around game drives (both morning and evening drives) in a region of Botswana that is known for its wildlife and birdlife. Experienced guides and trackers in 4x4 Land Cruisers showcase what at the right time of year (June - October) is some of the best wildlife sightings in Botswana.
