Day 1: Ngorongoro Crater
- Arrive at The Highlands today (or earlier if you wish to visit the Ngorongoro Crater or enjoy other activities in the region), located on the side of the Olmoti Crater in the Ngorongoro Highlands.
- Enjoy an afternoon relaxing and enjoying views over the rolling Maasai land from the balcony of your unique geodesic dome tent.
- Your Wayo walking safari guide will meet you this evening to discuss the next days of walking and enjoy a delicious dinner and a good night's sleep before your adventure begins tomorrow.
- Meals: Full board

Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater
- Wake before sunrise for an early breakfast and set off on foot around one of the cattle trails that leads around the edge of the Olmoti Crater.
- It is possible to drive a short section of this if you would prefer a less strenuous day (please advise at point of booking, for planning purposes).
- Once you have rounded the crater, you will walk through the rolling grassy plains which are broken up by small Maasai villages and herdsmen with their iconic red shukas wrapped around their shoulders to keep away the cold in the early mornings.
- You will reach your fly camp in the mid-afternoon, located in the acacia Lahai Forest near the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater
- An early start today, setting off after breakfast at sunrise, continuing your walk around the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, taking in some spectacular and unspoiled views of this iconic dormant volcano.
- The early mornings here are particularly special, watching as the mist burns away, and the warmth of the sun arrives – we recommend keeping your camera handy today!
- The terrain varies as you walk, from acacia woodland to highland montane forest.
- You will walk through a traditional Maasai village, stopping with your guide to meet some of the local people and learning a little about Maasai life and culture, before you continue your walk.
- Camp in a new spot in the acacia forest, enjoying a well-earned siesta in the afternoon when you arrive, and dinner cooked over the campfire.
- Meals: Full board
- Accommodation: Wayo walking fly camp
Day 4: Steps Around Ngorongoro Safari ends
- Another spectacular day, walking on and sometimes inside the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater this morning.
- You will notice the terrain becoming drier as you move into the rain shadow of the crater, all while enjoying incredible and uninterrupted views of the Crater floor.
- The walk will finish at around midday at the Seneto descent road on the western side of the Ngorongoro Crater, where the adventure concludes, and you will bid your walking guide farewell.
- Here, a driver-guide and 4x4 safari vehicle will await with a picnic lunch to continue your journey into the Serengeti.
- The driver-guide for today and onward travel arrangements are not included in adventure price.
