Omarunga Lodge Gallery
Omarunga Lodge in the Damaraland region of Namibia is that perfect destination when one is up this far north in Namibia, the lodge is located on the banks of the Kunene River and probably about 500 metres away from the Epupa Falls themselves.
One could not ask for more, great food, comfortable tented suites, a swimming pool and a bar area with views out over the Kunene and into Angola.
Numerous activities are on offer, we partook in the Himba village tour, an interesting look into the lives of these indigenous nomads. We also took up the option of a sunset/ view of the Epupa Falls. Both these tours come highly recommended, as does the one we did not try, the nature walk along the banks of the Kunene River, this would be spectacular for birders.
Our only real point of concern is that the tented rooms are positioned rather close to each other, and canvas being canvas, it will not be soundproof by any stretch of the imagination.
NOTE: When visiting the Epupa Falls itself, please be very CAREFUL as there are no guard rails whatsoever. Accidents can and have taken place, you fall or slip down there, you are not coming back.
Can we recommend a stay at Omarunga Lodge? Yes, we can, Omarunga is one of two options available in this spectacular part of northern Namibia.

In May 2012, we arranged for Uyaphi.Com client Ken Vine from Devon in England to stay with the traditional Himba people in two remote villages in the middle of Kaokoland.
He lived, slept, ate, conversed and photographed these Himba villagers.
