Swakopmund, a small coastal town with a massive heart. A town founded in 1892 that now offers excellent accommodation and restaurant opinions for all that visit, a town with a laidback charm like no other offering up colonial architecture, oceanfront promenades and historical sights.
Swakopmund offers a host of accommodation types from basic budget options all the way up to private upmarket and expensive options.
As far as eating out, Swakopmund literally has it all, you name it and one can find a restaurant that serves it. But, in our humble opinions, Swakopmund is all about seafood. Oh, and before we forget, the Beer, the town offers a lot of small breweries that craft German styled brews, so if you like a cold one, Swakopmund is the place.
In the summertime, the beaches are popular and are almost always full, although the waters of the Atlantic are always on the chilly side, swimming might not always be possible.
As far as staying in Swakopmund, we would suggest a one or two-night stay before heading out again on you Namibia safari again.
It is always great fun visiting the town, between the beer and the seafood (and German) restaurants, one is sure to have a great time, we do.
