Hoarusib River Valley Photos
Travel up the Hoarusib River Valley is a scenic voyage of sheer cliffs, narrow canyons, flowing streams and of course desert elephants. The most amazing part of this journey is as one travels east, the desert starts to reveal her secret, the flowing Hoarusib River (more of a stream but hey, who is getting technical here).
Combine the Hoarusib River Valley with a venture down the Hoanib River, explore this region for three or four days and one is in for a right royal treat, trust us on this. An absolutely amazing destination awaits.
Travelling the tracks of the Hoarusib River Valley is for the adventurous only, due to remote location, we highly recommend that one travel in a convoy of two or vehicles.
We went against our own rules and travelled in a single-vehicle and let me tell you that at some points crossing the Hoarusib River with that soft sand and clay mixture almost had us in deep trouble at times. Thankfully our Jeep Wrangler had enough power and will to get us through, but any lesser 4x4 vehicle would have been stuck (I am talking double cabs here and inexperienced off-road drivers).
