Local Payment |
|||||||||||
| You will find that on most (not all) of the Overland safaris that we offer on Uyaphi.com have a local payment attached to the price of the safari. This local payment is basically a communal fund to pay for campsite fees, food, and game park entrance fees for the duration of the safari, including fuel, gas, wood, washing liquids etc etc. The safari leader manages the kitty during the safari and it covers all the local expenses the tour encounters on a day to day basis for all the passengers and crew. The kitty (local payment) must be paid to the tour leader on the morning of departure. This payment is always payable in US$ (cash), US$ being the Africa's most accepted currency (NO TRAVELLERS CHEQUES OR CREDIT CARDS). Shop around before buying US$, this could save you quite a bit of money. Local payment per group size: GROUPS UP TO 12 PEOPLE PER VEHICLE: Food, entry fees & camping fees GROUPS UP TO 14 - 16 PEOPLE PER VEHICLE: Entry fees, border taxes & camping fees GROUPS UP TO 30 PEOPLE PER VEHICLE: Food, entry fees, border taxes & camping fees Please note: Local payments are not fixed mainly due to exchange rate fluctuations. Please note: Alcoholic drinks, sodas, bottled water etc etc are not covered in the local payment. Please note: Local payment does not cover your visas. A local payment is part of the payment for the Overland safari |

| On a day to day basis look at spending money on curios, smokes, drinks, snack, internet and shopping. To give you an idea of costs (all prices are approximate as there is no way to cover all bases). - A beer in a bar = US$2.50 + - Pack of smokes = US$ 2.00 - 3.00 + - Packet of crisps = US$ 2.00 + - Internet (1/2 hr) = US$ 3.00 - 5.00 + The minimum spending amount per day would be in the region of US$ 25.00 - 35.00, obviously you know your self what you require on a day to day basis. Should you like to party bring more US$ When traveling in Africa always use US$ as this is a international currency, US$ are always welcome! We recommend you purchase US$ in your home country, it is best to have smaller denominations (buying something with a US$ 100.00 bill will result in your change being returned in the local currency). Please note: US$ bills must be post 1996 - older notes will NOT BE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!! - Eastern Africa: US$ and travelers cheques (credit cards are not widely accepted but could be used in case of emergency) - Southern Africa (excluding South Africa & Namibia): US$, travelers cheques & credit cards accepted - South Africa & Namibia: travelers cheques & credit cards |
