Makweti Safari Lodge is an exclusive getaway for those who value privacy, personalized service and the game viewing of an enviable diversity, combined with some of the most beautiful landscapes Africa has to offer.
Situated in an area of some 15000 sq kilometres in the Limpopo Province, the Waterberg region is unmatched in its beauty - from soaring craggy mountain heights on the southern escarpment, to the Seven Sisters guarding the northern grasslands and the spectacular rock buttresses to the east - Makweti Safari Lodge finds its home in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in the heart of if this wilderness.
Privately owned and operated, recently inducted into the prestigious Chaine de Rotisseurs and members of Great Hotels of the World - internationally acclaimed, Makweti is a prime malaria free destination for the safari connoisseur.
ROOM & SUITE TYPES:
Makweti Safari Lodge accommodation is provided for ten guests only. Suites are spacious and secluded in the bush for maximum privacy. Each bedroom is individually decorated with antique treasures and plush furnishings and has a fireplace as well as a viewing deck. The bathroom has both indoor and outdoor showers and a Victorian tub. Great care has been taken to provide guests with the ultimate in luxury in this primitive surrounding.
FOOD & WINE:
Innovative, exciting flavors, of pan African cuisine, with a traditional twist, delights the most discerning. Makweti offers three chefs for just 10 guests, each with their own specialty combining to offer gourmet delights, expertly presented with an artistic flair.
Meals are enjoyed on the dining room deck, offering elevated views of the Waterberg wilderness, in the dining room in the warm glow of an open fire, or under a starlit sky in a reed enclosed boma.
FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES:
Twice daily game drives in open 4x4 game viewing safari vehicles and nature walks. The excellent game viewing experience is complimented by other activities such as stargazing, bird watching and walking excursions to the bushmen art.
