The Chestnut Country Lodge is situated in the beautiful Kiepersol district near Hazyview in Mpumalanga and boasts magnificent mountain and valley views, together with luxury accommodation and fine dining. The Lodge started out as a farmhouse on a 50 hectare farm with a variety of indigenous trees, rocky outcrops and arable farming land. The name derives from the many Lowveld Chestnut trees on the property. These unusual spiky green pods once they fall to the ground, go brown and open, making a wonderful basket to hold our guest amenities in each bathroom. Unfortunately, these Chestnuts are not edible! The world-famous Kruger National Park is easily accessed via Numbi Gate which is a mere 20 kms away or guests can enter into the Park at Paul Kruger Gate some 54 kms away. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: The Chestnut Country Lodge offers eight double or twin-bedded ensuite bedrooms, which have been decorated individually and combine excellent taste and elegance. Each with own covered patio and comfortable furniture. The Lodge also offers 4 very spacious Luxury Suites which include a comfortable and elegant lounge area, furnished with luxury in mind. Each patio enjoy spectacular views down the Sabie Valley. The large en-suite bathrooms have separate shower and bath. Our newest Suite, The Chestnut Suite, is sumptuously furnished for a romantic getaway and is ideal for Honeymoon Couples. The bathroom comprises a Large corner bath for 2, His & Her Hand-basins. The Chestnut Suite is the only suite that offers a privately enclosed patio with an outside Shower & wooden loungers. Enjoy a romantic breakfast for 2 or an intimate candle-lite dinner for that special moment (by prior arrangement). All Rooms & Suites have tea & coffee making facilities, overhead fan & hair-dryers The Lodge offers accommodation for up to 26 guests. FOOD & WINE: The cosy bar and lounge are also comfortable places to relax at the end of a day for a sundowner or drinks before dinner. Our 3-course table d'hôte meal is prepared using only the freshest of herbs, vegetables in season and quality meats, fish and poultry for our discerning guests. Chestnut Country Lodge offers a superb Continental Buffet Breakfast as well as a full English Breakfast each morning. FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES: Recreational activities in the area include, river rafting, horse-riding, abseiling, walking trails, quad biking, birding, kloofing, microlight flights, hot air ballooning, 4-wheel drive skills course, trout fishing in the Sabie area as well as a number of international standard golf courses to choose from nearby. |
