Medjumbe Island Resort on the remote Medjumbe Island - one of the many islands making up the Quirimbas Archipelago in Northern Mozambique - Medjumbe Island Resort is an intimate island resort, the ideal Mozambique island getaway for those who wish to experience exclusivity and privacy on a remote tropical island.

Medjumbe Island is 800 metres in length and 350 metres wide - a magical destination with private beaches and countless coves to be discovered and blissful surroundings to be experienced. The island is accessed from Pemba by light aircraft transfer, a mere 40 minute flight. Alternatively from Matemo Island resort, a 20 minute flight.

Medjumbe Resort was designed to a have minimal impact on the Island and its eco system.Chalets were designed to blend in with the surroundings with its thatch like roof and log cabin shell.

ROOM & SUITE TYPES:

The 13 palm-thatched beach chalets on Medjumbe are the ultimate in sophisticated simplicity, just steps away from the warm Indian Ocean. Nestling on the white sands, they offer privacy and seclusion, yet are situated conveniently close to our guest areas. Each chalet is luxuriantly furnished in crisp blues and whites, offering a full en-suite bathroom with indoor and outdoor shower, and is refreshingly air-conditioned. Ceiling fans, mosquito nets, hair dryer, mini bar, an electronic safe, satellite TV and tea/coffee making facilities are included in every chalet.

Outside each chalet, a private plunge pool with stunning Indian Ocean views provides relief from the tropical Mozambique heat and a hammock ensures ultimate relaxation, the Quirimbas way. Ensconced in your private beach haven is as close as it gets to personal heaven.

FOOD & WINE:

Chalets are set separately from the main building where you'll dine on sublime local seafood fare, relax at the swimming pool and enjoy exotic cocktails at the bar.

FACILITIES:

The central dining area, decks and patios are designed for privacy and barefoot luxury. Lounge around the pool overlooking the translucent ocean, sip cocktails (try our delicious caiparinhas!) in our bar areas, or ensconce yourself upstairs in the informal lounge where you can gaze out at paradise whilst you sip espressos, check your email (if you truly have to!), read or play games.

ACTIVITIES:

Diving - Quirimbas Archipelago; The tropical waters around the Quirimbas islands are one of Mozambique's best-kept secrets. Here in clear waters that reach 30°C in summer, and rarely less than 26°C in winter, you will discover a marine ecosystem that is absolutely pristine. Medjumbe's spectacular coral reef with its dazzling colour palette of fish remains little explored, and apart from the 12 known dive sites, intrepid divers can set out to explore a host of new dive locations so far undiscovered. Ask our dive master to let you name the site you discover!

Mozambique Fishing; The Quirimbas Archipelago offers some of the most spectacular fishing in the world. Unspoilt and largely unexplored, the Indian Ocean here with its deep Mozambique Channel harbours some of the most exciting game fish to catch - species such as Kingfish, Queenfish, Barracuda, Mackerel and Yellowfin Tuna. Even novice anglers are sure to be delighted with a catch!

Water Sports at Medjumbe Private Mozambique Island; A world of discovery awaits you on our breathtaking tropical idyll. For marine adventures, such as diving, snorkeling or fishing, you could not choose a more idyllic natural environment, whilst water sports such as sailing, water-skiing, windsurfing and kayaking provide endless action-packed fun.
