Guests are drawn to this lodge built in an ethnic design, surrounded by a rich landscape, covered in fauna, from huge desert cacti to sweet smelling jasmine flowers, all within the fabled Masai Mara game reserve. 240 kms from Nairobi, approximately 5 hours on tarmac and all weather murram road, situated outside the park. Flying is one hour to the nearest airstrip which is 30 minutes drive to the lodge. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: 50 traditional round buildings with thatched roofs, each with 2 rooms. There are 12 suites, 6 on either side of the lodge. They have a large living area, private spacious bedrooms with 2 queen size beds with a mosquito net, en suite bathroom with a shower, dressing table, coffee table with comfortable chairs and a mini bar. An ornamental fire place completes the decor of the rooms. The standard rooms with parquet floors and wooden paneled ceilings have 2 double beds with a mosquito net around them, ornamental fire place, en-suite bathroom with a shower, chairs and a coffee table and dressing table. Each has a verandah with two safari chairs. The Honeymoon Suite is situated right at the top of the property with an uninterrupted view of the Oloongama hills, this very spacious suite has a king size bed set on a platform. The bathroom has a sunken in bath and shower. A spacious verandah is in the front to watch the sunset or have privately served meals. FOOD & WINE: A round structure, the dining room has high ceiling, red painted walls adorned with paintings depicting the Masai going about their every day life. Some walls have framed beautiful beaded necklaces. In the centre is a huge fireplace, decorated at the top with life sized carvings of the Masai and shields, draped with checked red and blue Masai "shukas". Light fixtures are calabashes, used by the Masai for holding water, milk and blood. Glass doors open out on to a verandah which is at times is used for dining as well, especially during the warm weather or for large groups.
