Tintswalo Atlantic
'The only lodge within Cape Town placed on the Atlantic oceans' water's edge in Hout Bay'
|
|
Stylish yet understated, Tintswalo Atlantic offers home-away-from-home comforts, discreet service and mouthwatering culinary creations in the most beautiful setting. Nestled unobtrusively between the boulders of the Atlantic Ocean's water's edge and the slopes of the Cape Mountain Fynbos Reserve, known worldwide for its extraordinary rich and diverse fauna and flora - no trees were removed and not so much as a branch was cut from the Milkwood trees that grace the shoreline - Tintswalo Atlantic offers absolute seclusion and relaxation, with the ocean literally a stone's throw away from the pebbled beach!
Tintswalo Atlantic is the perfect destination for visitors wanting to relax right beside the ocean - either starting their holiday at the lodge or to recuperate after an exciting few days on safari. It's also ideal for holiday goers wanting to spend their days exploring the many attractions of the Cape Peninsula, returning "home" at the end of a busy day!
ROOM & SUITE TYPES:
The Tintswalo Atlantic suites are authentically decorated to emulate the experiences and colours of various well-known islands of the world. The air-conditioned suites are quite literally, situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Each room has its own unique view of the ocean and the majestic Sentinel across the bay. The suites promise supreme comfort and privacy, and whale watching is an effortless activity at certain times of the year. Spacious en-suite bathroom, all with his and her basins as well as showers also enjoy an uninterrupted marine view.
FOOD & WINE:
The Tintswalo Atlantic kitchen is a very personal one, headed by Danelle. The culinary wizards' sole objective is to give guests the feeling of a home away from home. The kitchen and dining room are open plan and designed in such a way that guests are encouraged to have a seat at the counter (with a glass of legendary Cape wine) while watching the Tintswalo's chefs in action, as they weave their magic.
Or how about a personalized cooking class?
Guests staying at Tintswalo Atlantic are treated to a sublime breakfast, and afternoon tea. 'A La Carte' lunches and dinners are also available.
FACILITIES:
The Tintswalo Atlantic communal areas have been built predominantly from wood and glass to blend harmoniously with the natural and staggeringly beautiful surrounds. Facilities include a lounge, bar, small wine cellar, dining room, and interactive kitchen. The common element shared by all are the breathtaking views of the sea and mountains. From the long wooden deck with its heated Jacuzzi pool and comfortable loungers, one has a feeling of being suspended over the ocean.
ACTIVITIES:
- Absorb the atmosphere at the busy working harbour of Hout Bay. During the week one can watch fishing trawlers and crayfish boats unload their catches.
- Take a boat trip to Seal Island, a tiny island behind the Sentinel, which is densely populated by some 6000 seals.
- Explore Table Mountain National Park on foot - there are numerous walks and hiking trails.
- Spend the day exploring the nearby Constantia Winelands, birthplace to the wine farming industry in Cape Town.
- Indulge in a spot of retail therapy at the V & A Waterfront, or at one of the other renowned shopping districts.
- Visit the many attractions that the city of Cape Town offers.
- Go on a Cape Peninsular day excursion.
- A big attraction in Hout Bay is the World of Birds. This is the largest bird park in Africa and one of the few large bird parks in the world. Over 3 000 birds (and small animals) of 400 different species are uniquely presented in more than 100 spacious landscaped walk through aviaries.
- For the more adventurous there's sea kayaking.
