The Cellars-Hohenort unifies two great traditions: the magnificent restoration of the Cellars of the 18th century Klaasenbosch wine estate and the splendid Hohenort manor house previously owned by the Spilhaus family.
Situated in the heart of the Constantia Valley in Cape Town, South Africa, The Cellars-Hohenort is a haven of peace and tranquility unifying two great traditions, the magnificent restoration of the 18th Century Klaasenbosch wine cellars and the splendid Manor House of the Hohenort, previously owned by the Spilhaus family.
With its understated elegance and charm, the hotel boasts 53 luxury rooms and suites, with breathtaking views across the 9 acres (3.5 hectares) of world renowned gardens and vineyard. We currently have 3 salt-chlorinated heated swimming pools (Cellars, Hohenort & Madiba), a tennis court and a Gary Player designed putting and chipping green. Cellars & Madiba have recently been changed to solar heated swimming pools. Apparently for these pools, the temperature should range from 18 - 22 degrees. The Paris Spa awaits those in need of complete relaxation. We also have our own D&D Hair Salon.
ROOM & SUITE TYPES:
A gracious, two-storey Cape-style home situated in the midst of our gardens, with its own private courtyard and small swimming pool.
It features a large sitting/dining room with fireplace, built-in bar, plunge pool, service kitchen and two or three double en-suite bedrooms with walk-in cupboards. It is fully air-conditioned with under carpet heating and has butler service 24 hours a day.
FOOD & WINE:
The Greenhouse; This stylish restaurant, situated adjacent to the historic cellar, and carefully built around a giant 300-year-old oak, offers unparalleled garden vistas, whether you opt for the airy indoors or the sun-drenched terrace.
The Cape Malay Restaurant; The Cape Malay Restaurant is the brainchild of Liz McGrath who, in 1996, decided to showcase the Cape's unique cuisine to both local and international visitors.This local cuisine restaurant is a unique dining experience in authentic Cape Malay food and exciting choice of traditional taste treats awaits you. Spicy, rustic colours create a pleasant Eastern ambience. Cape Malay cooking is unique to the Western Cape. The Cape Malay is open 7 days a week, during high season.
The Martini; The Martini is not just another hotel bar but a place where guests and visitors to the hotel can enjoy afternoon tea and possibly an early martini in this very chic and contemporary environment!
