At nightfall, under a canopy of stars, gather around the fire where traditional country cooking is offered in a charming, country setting. In addition to tours of the battlefields, visitors are exposed to aspects of Zulu culture that give a well-rounded African experience.

Overlooking the Battlefield of Isandlwana is Fugitives Drift Guest House, the 2,500 hectare reserve is 8km from Rorke's Drift on the Buffalo River in KwaZulu Natal. 17km of river frontage include the famous site of Fugitives' Drift, where Lieutenants Melvill and Coghill lost their lives in 1879 trying to save the Queen's Colour of their regiment, winning the first two posthumous Victoria Crosses in history.

Diverse and abundant wildlife includes giraffe, zebra, kudu, hartebeest and a host of smaller antelope, as well as 275 recorded bird species. The Buffalo George is a Natural heritage Site where spectacular walks can be enjoyed.

Our flagship tours to Isandlwana and Rorke's Drift are led by registered tour guides that are superb storytellers, making the history of that day come alive, and long, family associations with the area and its people allow us to offer you some unique, Zulu perspectives.
