| Kwandwe Great Fish River Lodge is an easy drive from Port Elizabeth, making it the perfect for inclusion in an itinerary covering Cape Town and the Garden Route. Built overlooking the magnificent Fish River, 11 kilometers of river frontage, the reserve has been established on a proven model of restoring farmland to its original, wilderness state before restocking it with game. The Lodge benefits from the magnificent landscapes characteristic of the area. It lies in an undulating basin, bordered by classic Eastern Cape hill country to the north and south. Kwandwe is a malaria free game reserve. The perennial Fish River divides the property and provides a generous water supply for the reserve. ROOM & SUITE TYPES: Great Fish River Lodge consists of nine luxurious suites, each featuring intimate living areas, en-suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers, and welcoming, covered verandas. Each suite will have a private thatched observation deck overlooking the Fish River. The décor and finishes set a new standard of luxury with African-inspired décor characterised by a subtle blend of earth-toned fabrics, timber and African artifacts and antiques. FOOD & WINE: Delicious Pan-African cuisine is served on the private decks, in the candlelit dining room or enjoyed in the boma (an outdoor dining area). FACILITIES/ACTIVITIES: Kwandwe Game Reserve's exceptional wildlife will delight even experienced safari travelers. Mammal species will ultimately include the "big five" (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo) as well as diverse birdlife.
