Day 1: Nkwali Camp
- A guide and vehicle will meet up with at the tiny Mfuwe International Airport.
- We will make our way through the town of Mfuwe to our base for the next few nights, this is a +- 1-hour drive.
- Nkwali Camp with its views across the Luangwa river and bushveld lies within a private concession bordering the South Luangwa National Park.
- With time on our side, there will be some time to relax after lunch and before the afternoon game drive (flight arrival times dependant).
- On the afternoon game drive prepare yourself for some of the finest wildlife sightings in the whole of the African continent.
- Overnight: Nkwali Camp
Days 2-3: Nkwali Camp
- Two days at Nkwali Camp, we personally cannot think of anything better.
- Breakfasts around a campfire.
- Morning walks and/ or game drives with wildlife around every corner including the endemic species of giraffe "Thornicroft Giraffe".
- There is a mid-morning coffee break with cake on offer after the morning game activities.
- Midday is lunchtime and a chance to relax and unwind at the swimming pool or a mid-day nap.
- Get ready for the afternoon that more often than not continues into the early night where with a bit of luck we can spot a few of those sneaky Leopards.
- Dinner is around 20h30 in the evening.
- Overnight: Nkwali Camp
Day 4: Nsefu Camp
- After an early breakfast, a transfer game drives through the park takes you to a crossing point on the Luangwa River.
- The Nsefu staff will meet the party, who will cross the river by boat, and then enjoy a 45-minute drive to camp, game viewing on route. Nsefu was the first game camp in Zambia and dates back to the early fifties.
- The Nsefu area is one of the best areas in the Luangwa for wildlife and birdlife, this is without question.
- Once at Nsefu Camp, we have time for a bit of relaxation and lunch before embarking on our afternoon and evening game drive.
- Overnight: Nsefu Camp
Day 5: Nsefu Camp
- In the surrounding ebony groves of Nsefu, we have a choice of wild walking safaris or game drives depending on weather and heat.
- There is also the option (again depending on weather and heat) for an all-day picnic drive to the salt pans, resulting in an exceptional day's safari.
- Overnight: Nsefu Camp
Days 6-7: Nsefu Camp
- After breakfast around the campfire, your safari will continue with another relaxing day at Nsefu, with morning and evening game activities and the possibility of visiting Kawaza village.
- This community tourism initiative is a great opportunity to meet local people and experience life in a real non-tourist village.
- If you wish to visit, then it is best to mention this when booking your holiday or with Robin Pope Safaris on arrival.
- Overnight: Nsefu Camp
Day 8: Chongwe River Camp
- After we head to the Mfuwe Airport for our flight to the amazing Lower Zambezi valley.
- Dotted with islands the Zambezi river is home to countless herds of Buffalo and elephant that are often followed closely by prides of Lion and 1000's of pods of hippos.
- 20 mins after landing we arrive at Chongwe River Camp, our home for the next few days.
- The luxurious Chongwe River Camp offers vistas over the Chongwe and Zambezi rivers, with wildlife and birdlife abounding.
- Activities here include game drives, walking safaris, canoeing and fishing excursions.
- Elephant, hippo, buffalo and the big cats are even seen regularly in and around the camp!
- After a late lunch, there will be a chance for an afternoon activity - be it on the river or by vehicle.
- Overnight: Chongwe River Camp
Day 9-11: Chongwe River Camp
- The next few days are at your discretion
- Participate in any one of the include activities, your safari, your call.
- The Zambezi valley is extremely hot in summer (Temperature can get well over 40 degrees Celsius), please be warned.
- Overnight: Chongwe River Camp
Day 12: Tongabezi Lodge or Sindabezi Island Camp
- After breakfast and farewells, a drive through the park to the airstrip to meet the plane taking you to Livingstone via Lusaka (1.5 hours).
- On arrival, you will be met and transferred to either Tongabezi Lodge or Tongabezi Island Camp (Sindabezi), where you will settle into your accommodation and be served a delicious lunch.
- Accommodation at Tongabezi Lodge is set in a tranquil grove of ebony on a sweeping bend of the Zambezi River and consists of five tented cottages and four spacious open-planned stone and thatch houses.
- Tongabezi Island Camp is three kilometres downstream from the lodge and accessed only from there by either motorised banana boat or canoe.
- This unique camp consists of 4 cottages built from local timber, reed and thatch.
- Each with spectacular private views overlooking the Zambezi.
- The birdlife is outstanding and game is often seen around the Island Camp and Lodge.
- Overnight: Tongabezi Lodge or Sindabezi Island Camp
Days 13-14: Tongabezi Lodge or Sindabezi Island Camp
- There is a wide range of activities on offer at Tongabezi including fishing, canoe trips on the river, game drives in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park.
- For the more adventurous, Livingstone boasts a whole host of adrenaline-filled activities including whitewater rafting, bungee jumping and micro-lighting.
- Or you may just wish to rest in camp and enjoy the spectacular scenery and peaceful atmosphere.
- The day will end with a relaxed dinner served either in the main dining area or as a private meal outside of your room.
- Overnight: Overnight: Tongabezi Lodge or Sindabezi Island Camp
Day 15: Zambia Classic Safari Ends
- After breakfast, a morning activity time permitting, or a transfer flight (1hr) to Lusaka to connect onto the onward flight.
