Discover The Serene Oasis: Tena Tena Camp In Zambia's South Luangwa National Park
Tena Tena Camp in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park has become an African home-away-from-home for globetrotters worldwide. The words "Tena Tena" mean "temporary home" in the local language, and for many people, this exclusive camp is their very own safari nirvana.
The amazing setting of the camp, perched on the banks of the Luangwa River under a grove of mahogany trees, is the reason some guests return regularly to Tena Tena Camp. And no doubt the fabulous game-watching opportunities provide an added thrill. However, guests are unanimous in their praise of one thing - the superb individual service and warm hospitality offered by the team at Tena Tena.
Rooms and Suites
Stylish and intimate, this Luangwa River Camp has just five large luxury tents pitched along the edge of a water hole. Inside, the tents are spacious and decorated in rich tones from Arabia. The Persian rugs, hand-dyed Indian cotton bedspreads, and Bedouin cushions create a simple, homely feel. Walk through the tent and you will find a private dressing room that leads into a unique open-air bathroom with separate toilet, shower, and sink. The shower overlooks the water hole, so you can shower in the mornings while watching elephants drinking 30 yards away - an incredible experience!
It is even possible to view game from the comfort of your bed with the side of the tent rolled up. Or you can sit quietly on your verandah, sipping a cool drink, watching families of warthogs wallowing in the mud and elephants munching on the winterthorn pods.
Cuisine and Wine
Tena Tena Camp enjoys a perfect setting, shaded beneath a grove of mahogany trees. Under one of the trees is a simple bar area.
Other trees provide shade for al-fresco dining.
You can also sit in comfortable armchairs and sofas positioned along the banks of the Luangwa River and enjoy long afternoons of lazy game viewing and bird watching.
Activities
Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of exclusive safari activities designed to bring them closer to nature's wonders.
One such activity is the thrilling game drives, where adventurers can venture into the wilderness in open-top vehicles, guided by expert local trackers. These drives offer an unparalleled opportunity to spot the Big Five and witness the raw beauty of the untamed landscapes at dawn or dusk.
Another unique experience is the walking safaris when at Tena Tena Camp, allowing guests to tread softly across the savannah, feeling the pulse of Africa beneath their feet. Led by seasoned naturalists, these walks reveal the smaller intricacies of the ecosystem, often missed during vehicle-based explorations.
In addition to these activities, guests can also enjoy star-spangled night drives in 4x4 Land Cruisers. These night safaris offer a different perspective of the African bush, with expert guides using spotlights to reveal the elusive creatures that come out after dark.
In conclusion
Tena Tena Camp stands out as not just a destination, but a profound experience that captivates the heart and soul of every visitor. Nestled in the unspoilt wilderness of South Luangwa, it offers a perfect blend of adventure, tranquility, and unparalleled hospitality.
Whether it's the thrill of a walking safari, the intimacy of luxury accommodation, or the delight in unique wildlife encounters, Tena Tena Camp promises memories that last a lifetime.
Whether you're keen on the thrill of spotting the "Big Five" or prefer the quiet observation of birdlife, the safari adventure promises unforgettable encounters that resonate with the soul of Africa.
