Selous Impala Camp

Selous Impala Camp is set up by old east Africa hand Gillie Zanacchi as a retreat where he could take his friends to enjoy the animals and the bush. It soon became obvious that he would have to share! The camp is set in Borassus palms and Tamarind trees and provides superb comfort, wonderful Wildife in the Selous Reserve and dining under the stars beside the rippling Rufiji river.
Rooms & Suites:
The eight luxury tents set on high wooden decking with magnificent views of the river and of the forest beyond, melt into the background, becoming part of their surroundings so that animals wander freely through the Selous Impala Camp.
Each tent has a spacious veranda with chairs and table. You may get visitors! The tents look out either over the Rufiji itself, or over a lagoon. Here hippos and birds have their habitats. The tents are spread over a large area, ensuring maximum privacy.
Food & Wine:
Breakfast at Selous Impala Camp is a good start to the day, with plenty of fresh fruit, chef baked rolls, muesli and a full English breakfast if you want it! The Italian coffee machine guarantees you fresh Tanzanian coffee - some of the best in the world!
The freshest fruits, vegetables, meat and fish are brought in from outside the Reserve for use in our cuisine - based in international menus enhanced by Tanzanian flair and spice
There is a large and comfortable thatched low-slung building with wide verandahs where there is a relaxed open plan area with a well stocked bar, dining room and plenty of planters' chairs and sofas so that you can scan the river and banks for game, drink in hand.
Activities include bird watching; photography; walking safaris; and fishing Tiger Fish and Vandu (in the rivers of the Kilombero Game Controlled Area to the west of the reserve).
The Selous is four times the size of the Serengeti and possesses a diverse landscape from hot volcanic springs, sporadic lakes, channels from the Great Ruaha and Rufiji rivers.
Walking is permitted (with an armed ranger) which with over 400 species of bird and 2,000 species of plants to see makes this the most heavenly sanctuary to explore.
