Sabuk Lodge is an entrancing haven on the edge of the Laikipia plateau, overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River and the plains of Laikipia towards Mount Kenya.
The Laikipia plateau stretches from the foothills of the Aberdares, across vast open plains to the Northern Frontier District and the Mathews Range. The region nurtures exceptional wildlife and cultural diversity, home to many communities including the Laikipiak Masai and the Samburu tribes.
Sabuk Lodge was fashioned out of the local landscape, built with local materials, twisted wood and stone boulders incorporated into the architecture. Open walls and private veranda's face out over the river gorge 150 feet below.
This fantastic Laikipia Plateau Lodge is perfect for clients spending 3 or more days. Walk with a professional safari guide, a team of trained Laikipia Masai warriors and camel train through completely deserted tracts of wilderness: no other tourists, no roads or vehicles, only wildlife and their tracks, breathtaking scenery, the sounds of the bush, just Africa.
Perched high on the riverbanks, Sabuk Lodge 6 cottages (3 with King size beds, 2 with Twin beds and 1 Family room) are open at the front with stunning views of the river and cliffs. Each thatched rondavel (circular cottage) has its own unique design, crafted from local stone and ancient cedar and olivewood, gathered from the local area.
En-suite bathrooms, modern flush toilets and a private verandah with a view make each cottage a haven in itself.
Guests of Sabuk Lodge will enjoy scrumptuous Bush Meals served in the dining area or outside under the sky.
the resident chef has been with Sabuk for many a year, rusliting up delicious fresh, home-cooked meals.
Steaming hot cups of Kenyan tea and coffee are available at first light, fresh, seasonal fruit is served at breakfast. All meals are cooked with a healthy appetite in mind.
Meals are served family styled in our homely dining room or on the terrace. Our family approach to dining means all ages and all tastes are catered for.
Activities include game drives through the hilly countryside around camp, guided walks with camels to explore the area; also bush breakfasts and sundowners with the added treat of a night game drive back to camp afterwards, looking out for the nocturnal Bush Babies and Aardvark close by.
