Covid 19 Terms And Conditions
Over 2020 and 2021, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the travel industry have been catastrophic. Not only for you the travellers, or us the travel companies, but also those people in the rural areas where the only form of income is from the travel industry. The devastation has been real and so many lives have been affected.
This Covid-19 terms and conditions page covers additions to our standard 'Booking Terms and Conditions' allowing you to book your safari to Africa with the utmost confidence.
The below is applicable for all new bookings from 31 March 2021;
- Uyaphi.com - means - Uyaphi.com
- You - means - The person (one or more in a group) that is travelling on a booking with Uyaphi.com
- Government - means - The government in your country of residence
Before your final balance is due (8 weeks prior to arrival), you can cancel at any time and receive your deposit back.
Once payment has been received in full, you have the option to defer and postpone travel dates or may cancel and a refund can be applied. All 'Covid-19-Related' cancellations will be subject to individual suppliers own Covid-19 related policies, this, unfortunately, is completely out of our hands. We will advise of these terms before money changes hands so you will not get caught out.
If you need to defer, postpone or cancel your booking due to a 'Covid-19-related issue' (defined below), then you may do so in writing.
'Covid-19-Related Issue' - Defined;
A Covid-19-related issue has to affect you personally; one of the following has to apply;
- You have tested positive for Covid-19 within 14 days of departure date.
- You have been mandated by the government to quarantine after a positive Covid-19 test within 7 days of your departure.
One or more of the following broader restrictions;
- The government has banned you from travelling internationally.
- The government has issued an advise against ‘all but essential travel’ for a country on your itinerary.
- A country or destination on your itinerary is under government-mandated lockdown that prohibits international visitors from entering.
- A country has closed its borders to you because of your country of residence.
- One or more countries on your itinerary implemented 'quarantine on arrival' which alters your itinerary.
In regards to the above broader restrictions, these are moving targets and we will have to take a wait and see approach as your departure date nears (normally within a two-week window). Should that moment arise when there is no hope of travel, we will offer you a defer or cancel option.
Should you need to defer, postpone or cancel your booking due to a Covid-19 related issue (as defined above), you may do so via email, we will in return acknowledge cancellation via email.
Ability To Defer Travel;
When deferring or postponing a confirmed booking to a date in the future, Uyaphi.com will pass on to you any price changes that might occur due to seasonal or yearly rate changes. These changes might result in prices going up or down, depending on when you choose to travel (seasons fluctuate; low, mid and high), should prices drop, we will refund the difference. We will always keep you in the loop as to what is happening and advise on dates that are in line with what you originally paid in order to minimise additional costs.
Flights (International And Domestic) Purchased Through Uyaphi.com;
Due to the uncertain nature and chaos associated with air travel at present, we will be quoting all flights with "flexible fares". You can of course reject the flexible fare quote (as it will be slightly more expensive) and go for the cheaper non-flexible option. We at Uyaphi.com highly recommend "flexible fares" at present until air travel settles down again whenever that might be.
Flights (International And Domestic) Purchased By You, The Client;
When booking international and domestic flights too, in and around Africa by yourself, please opt for the "flexible fare option" from the outset. "Flexible fares" mitigate the risks associated with flights and airlines, and include greater flexibility should you wish to postpone.
Travel insurance is a must, especially now in this time of travel madness. We highly recommended that you purchase "fully comprehensive travel insurance" that covers all aspects of your safari investment. We will be able to advise you on various suitable travel insurance companies should you require. We cannot purchase travel insurance on your behalf. Uyaphi.com cannot be held liable to losses sustained due to medical expenses or cancellation penalties agreed to by you in booking your African itinerary.
All other conditions for booking remain the same as our existing Booking Conditions.
As conditions slowly but surely return to normal, Uyaphi.com reserves the right to amend the above Covid-19 policies for new bookings or stop offering it altogether.
