Introduction
Located within one of Botswana's most pristine and well-managed wildlife areas, The Jackal & Hide Camp offers guests access to over 200 000 ha of pure unadulterated wildlife bliss.
Khwai camp is all about photography, in fact so much so that literally every aspect of the camp is set up to cater for even the most professional of photographers. Purpose build photographic safari vehicles, a dedicated area just for editing images, guides that live and breathe the art form itself and interestingly, one does not even need to arrive with a camera, one is provided free of charge.
A well-priced safari option for those who are seriously keen on photographing all that the Khwai Private Reserve has to offer.
Rooms and Suites
The Jackal & Hide offers up seven spacious Meru styled tented suites, each one with viewing deck, en-suite facilities (toilet, basin and shower) as well as double or single bed options.
All suites are spaced far enough apart to ensure a large degree of privacy but also close enough to ensure the safety of all guests.
Cuisine and Wine
The cuisine on offer is best described as fresh and hearty, all the while being prepared from only the freshest ingredients available. Most dinners are paired with a selection of wines and served at the table.
The chef and her team are able to cater for most special dietary requirements (allergies or intolerances) as well as vegetarian and vegan guests, although advance notice must be given.
The bar is well stocked with good wines, local beers, spirits and soft drinks, all included in the nightly rate.
Lodge Facilities
The central guest area offers up a dining room (both indoor and outdoor areas) and a comfortable lounge, all under thatch with great views into the surrounding bushveld of the Okavango Delta.
A photo and video editing area is available for those keen on editing their photographs right there and then, workshops and presentations are also available here, seating a maximum of 12 guests at a time (this is available until the end of 2019 when.
And now for the exciting part; one Canon 80D DSLR camera and 100-400mm telephoto lens is available for each and every guest (free of charge) during their stay at The Jackal & Hide.
Safari Activities
Stunning wildlife and birdlife encounters abound within the private concession that The Jackal & Hide is located in. Game drives (both night and day) are the main focus with only four guests per vehicle. Vehicles are completely kitted out for photography purposes with camera mounts on both sides, perfect for getting those low light shots as well as coping with shake from large lenses.
Seasonal (April through to October) Mokoro trips are available for those keen on punting through the waterways of the Okavango Delta offering up a completely different perspective to what game drives offer.
