In this video, we interview Lisa Scriven. This Canadian native was the Certification Manager for Fair Trade In Tourism, the NGO which acts as a regulator and incubator for sustainable tourism practises in South Africa (and Africa as a whole).

We ask her what sustainable tourism means, where is it going, what the demand is, how businesses  cheat or “greenwash” and what the future holds.

By whatever measure you use, sustainable tourism practises are gaining traction the world over, especially in developing countries. They make financial and business sense and increasing numbers of tourists are looking at these credentials whenever they visit an establishment.

Lisa is now  managing her own consultancy and is a recognised commentator in this field.
