Day 1: Lusaka to South Luangwa
- From Lusaka International airport your domestic scheduled flight takes you to Mfuwe where you will be met by your guide and transferred to Kapani Lodge, set in idyllic grounds overlooking the Kapani Lagoon.
- This camp is a very comfortable way of starting your South Luangwa safari experience.
- Each of the ten large suites is airy with a fridge and overhead fans for your comfort.
- Although walks are possible from Kapani we recommend game viewing from vehicles since you will spend more of your time on foot whilst staying at the bush camps.
- Accommodation: Kapani Lodge
Day 2: South Luangwa Bush Camp
- After an early morning game drive and brunch, you will be transferred to the first of your remote bush camps and met by your guide and host.
- He will explain the plan for the days ahead and introduce you to your armed escort scout who will accompany each walk.
- This afternoon you will venture out on foot for your first experience of a safari in the most traditional manner.
- Accommodation: Bush Camp
Day 3: South Luangwa Bush Camp
- This morning you will rise early to discuss with your guide some of the bush sounds that may have kept you awake through the night.
- If lions were heard calling on the early morning breeze this will influence your guide's choice of route; otherwise, you will set out with hopes of picking up the fresh tracks of a pride or perhaps a leopard that was patrolling his territory.
- The morning walk is usually a slow and leisurely wander through the bush.
- Tea and cool drinks are carried by staff and enjoyed in the shade of a tree or next to the river.
- Accommodation: Bush camp
Day 4: South Luangwa Bush Camp
- Today's morning walking safari will also act as a transfer to your next bush camp.
- You will set out early and the walk will finish at your next camp, bags will be in your room and brunch laid out ready for your arrival.
- Here, as with all Norman Carr camps, you will have a choice of game viewing by vehicle or on foot.
- Accommodation: Bush camp
Day 5: South Luangwa Bush Camp
- Again the choice of a drive, a walk or a combination of both will be offered by your guide.
- He will discuss with you the areas and species that you still wish to explore and discover before leaving the Luangwa.
- Night drives are a popular feature of the Luangwa, the Park has a very dense concentration of leopards and of course, there is a host of other nocturnal animals that will only be seen after hours of darkness.
- Accommodation: Bush camp
Day 6: South Luangwa to Victoria Falls
- The drive to Mfuwe airport heads off through the Park giving you the last opportunity to gaze in awe at a herd of elephants as they cross the Luangwa River in the early morning sun, or to sit with a group of the endemic Thornicrofts giraffe.
- Your flight from Mfuwe will deliver you to Livingstone, the home of Victoria Falls.
- The drive from Livingstone Airport will take you upstream to a stunning bend in the Zambezi river and to Tongabezi Camp, offering wonderful views from each of the rooms.
- You can choose between the standard chalets or the unique open-fronted houses that this camp has become famous for.
- Accommodation: Tongabezi Lodge
Day 7: Victoria Falls
- Tongabezi is surely one of the most romantic destinations in Africa, but do not be tempted to stay in camp all day because a host of activities awaits.
- Livingstone has become known as the adrenalin capital of Southern Africa with white water rafting, bungee jumping, and gorge swings numbering just a few of your options.
- Alternatively, take lunch on Livingstone Island and swim in a natural rock pool that quite literally finds you hanging over the edge of the Falls themselves.
- Accommodation: Tongabezi Lodge
Day 8: Safari Ends
- After a quiet breakfast in your room or on the deck stretching out into the river you will say farewell to the Zambezi river and depart to Livingstone Airport for your flight out of Zambia or to Lusaka for onward travel.
