Uganda Safari

Winston Churchill called Uganda "The pearl of Africa." The country has recovered greatly from the disastrous decade of Idi Amin and is seen as a beacon of prosperity and growth in Africa. As a consequence of its lower profile, you will see some of the most spectacularly diverse and least visited national parks in Africa.

From the steamy, gorilla filled jungle in Bwindi in the south west to the savannah wilderness of Kidepo on the Sudanese border in the north, from the iconic encounter with tree climbing lions in Queen Elizabeth National Park on Lake Albert to the Lake Victoria basin, you will experience some of the most memorable safari destinations in Africa.

You can chose to fly from point to point or drive to your Uganda Safari destination. Either way, you will not be disappointed by the experience. Uganda is often combined with other destinations in Kenya or Tanzania but the Uyaphi team enjoy the more remote and "real" African experience of Uganda.

All of the below Safaris in Uganda options can be tailor-made to suite your budget and requirements.

  • Attractions in Uganda
  • When I was a younger man, the name of Uganda was evocative of the dangers and thrills of Africa, the superlative wildlife, the psychopathic dictator Idi Amin, the raid on Entebbe and the multiple civil wars. Then something rather odd happened. President Musiveni came to power in 1985 and the country disappeared from the news of the world. Attractions in Uganda (other than of course Gorilla Trekking), now this is a question raised by all when visiting Uganda.

  • Uganda is still seen as a more remote and mentally distant safari destination, even though it is next door to Kenya, the country which started the modern safari industry. Called “The pearl of Africa” by Winston Churchill and in more recent memory the scene of great civil war under the mad dictator Idi Amin, it throws up many images. Most people go to Uganda today to see the famed mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei beringei).

  • White Water Rafting Uganda

  • White water rafting Nile River
  • My adventure (White water rafting Nile River) started from the Nile River Explorers backpackers in Jinja. After a quick intro, fitting of helmets and life jackets, we grabbed some fruit salad, juice, and something named a breakfast “rolex” (Uganda’s equivalent of a breakfast burrito) for the road, and boarded our transport which took us about 15km down river marking the starting point for our day’s rafting.
