Set in botanic gardens by the ocean, the hotel is 10 minutes from Stone Town or from the Airport but is an oasis of peace to return to after your busy day. Prices are reasonable and the emphasis is on giving you good value while maintaining high standards of service.
Mbweni offers accommodation for no more than 30 guests. All the rooms are air-conditioned, with ceiling fans and louvred windows to the balcony. They are furnished in exotic Zanzibar style and every room has views of the Indian Ocean and of the gardens.
ROOM & SUITE TYPES:
The rooms are situated between the Mbweni Ruins and the Restaurant and Bar, overlooking the pool, gardens and beach. Mbweni offers thirteen air-conditioned suites, each furnished in distinctive Zanzibari style. Each suite has easy access to the swimming pool and secluded beach. All of the rooms are air-conditioned, with ceiling fans. They have lockup safes and a tray with tea and coffee-making items.
FOOD & WINE:
The Raintree Restaurant, set on a cliff overlooking the Indian Ocean, offers delicious combinations of International and Zanzibari food.
A full English breakfast prepared before your eyes, combined with a buffet of island fruits, yoghurt and cereals, freshly-squeezed fruit juices and a selection of herbal teas.
For lunch, guests can sample one of our specially prepared salads or explore the extensive menu. The chefs use fresh market produce and seafood specialities from the Indian Ocean.
SPA FACILITIES:
The Bustani Spa (Bustani means "Garden") offers many exciting pampering treatments such as Aromatherapy, Facials, Beauty Treatments and much more in two beautiful rooms set in the old Ruins.
ACTIVITIES:
You can go for a sail on a traditional dhow to the nearby sandbanks, for sunbathing and snorkelling and perhaps a barbecue picnic lunch; or to the nearby islands; or to Stone Town.
You can go for a short trip in a local dugout outrigger - known as "ngalawa" in Swahili.Mbarawa,our beach attendant, will take you out for a spin as part of our free activities.
You can swim or snorkel from the beach or in the clear blue pool. Trips to the sandbanks opposite the hotel, where you can swim and snorkel on pristine beaches. The staff will set up a shade and prepare a delicious barbecue lunch. There is a nature trail around the grounds or you can go canoeing in the mangrove glades just to the south.
