Beho Beho was the first camp to be sited in The Selous, not on the banks, or the flood plains of the mighty Rufiji River, but in the cooler highlands so as to enjoy the 'cooling breezes' from which its name derives. Always designated as a 'private camp' it has fiercely protected its individuality and privileged location as one of the most 'magical' places it is possible to visit in safari Africa.

Beho Beho's experienced guides will plan your safari programme, whether you need time to relax and be pampered or need to do a 10kms game walk before breakfast in the bush. From sunrise to sunset, from early morning tea to sundowner a Beho Beho safari is planned to your requirements.

ROOM & SUITE TYPES:

Beho Beho has 8 individual very spacious Bandas, (stone built and palm thatched cottages) furnished with king-sized beds, Zanzibari day beds, writing desks and comfortable 'suite' furniture. The front of the banda is totally open and extends on to a spacious verandah. The banda can be secured for the night with 'tented curtains' or left open as desired.

Each banda has a separate dressing room leading into an en suite bathroom with twin basins, high flush WC and an 'open air' shower.

FOOD & WINE:

Meals are a moveable feast and are not confined to the formal dining area. There are several lookouts where breakfast and lunch are served and of course areas for dining under the stars. Bush Breakfasts and picnics are also arranged for longer safaris.

FACILITIES:

Beho Beho's stone built and palm thatched cottages, are not only a refuge from the equatorial sun, the bouncy seat of a game vehicle and the red dust of Africa nor are they just for sleeping, these spacious 'suites', which open up reveal unrivalled vistas of the Africa bush, are designed as private 'homes' with individuality and flair. The open sided lounges and dining areas together with the cocktail bar and 'billiards room' provide a sophisticated setting for post safari relaxation and the swimming pool and deck an ideal place to cool off.

ACTIVITIES:

Game Drives; These are in our special adapted 4WD vehicles which offer raised seating for better game viewing. Game drives are best taken early in the morning or at dusk.

Walking; The wilderness of Africa will be yours as you walk through the bush in the vicinity of Beho Beho. Many different tracks can be followed with either a circular walk returning to the camp or a pre-arranged location can be made for you to be collected by a safari vehicle.

Lake Tagalala & Maji Moto; After a short Game drive you will arrive at Lake Tagalala for your boating safari. The lake is surrounded by a number of natural springs which attracts amazing birdlife as well as a large Hippo and crocodile population. After a bush breakfast a short walk takes you to the hot sulphur springs, Maji Moto where you swim in the deep natural pools before returning to Beho Beho.
