The Kruger National Park is very easily accessible from all the main cities around South Africa, our team at Uyaphi.com will advise you on the best options based on you as an individual as well as your budget.

Fly or drive or be driven, with each one of these options comes a cost, private air charters being the most expensive whilst the most cost effective option would be a self drive.

Daily road transfers between Johannesburg and the Kruger National Park, including the Timbavati and the Sabi Sand, are avaiable throughout the year. Private transfers are available on request and can be tailor-made to take in a few of the scenic and historical stops along the way. All transfers are guided by fully registered and professional English speaking driver-guides.

Kruger Self Drive

A Kruger Self Drive safari is by far and away the cheapest option (vehicle choice dependant of course) when it comes to getting to the Kruger from any part of South Africa. These safaris are for those who love the open road and love exploring at their own pace, one can stop off at the Blyde River Canyon and Bourkes Luck Potholes or any of the numerous scenic and historical spots en-route.

Kruger Air Shuttle

A daily air shuttle service is available from OR Tambo International Airport (Johannesburg) to the Sabi Sand, Timbavati and Kruger regions allowing one to get access to most of the establishments that we offer on Uyaphi.com. Should you require a private charter you can contact one of our consultants and we will advise on the costs and the routings.

Baggage Restrictions

Baggage Restrictions
Baggage Restrictions on all light aircraft and private air charters into the Kruger, Sabi Sand, Timbavati, Thornybush, Kapama reserves is limited to 20kg per person(including your hand luggage and camera equipment) in soft sided bag that has no wheels (this is strictly adhered to). This is due to space constraints on board the aircraft. This does not apply to commercial flights.

The Eastgate Airport (close to the town of Hoedspruit) is your gateway to the Timbavati, Thornybush and Kapama Game Reserves in the heart of South Africa's bushveld. Hoedspruit Eastgate Airport with currently twice daily scheduled flights from Johannesburg and once a day three times a week from Cape Town.

Kruger Mpumalanga Airport
KMIA is the gateway to the southern regions of the Kruger National Park and Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, located 23km's from Nelspruit and a mere 30 minute drive to the Gates of the Kruger. Numerous daily flights between Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and even Zambia's Livingstone Airport, KMIA is the most popular airport in the region.

Skukuza Airport

Skukuza Airport
Skukuza Airport inside of the Kruger and bordering the World famous Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, this is the perfect airport in which to access the Lion Sands Game Reserve as well as the Private Tinga, Jocks and Rhino post concessions. Flights in here are offered by either SA Airlink or private charters with Airlink offering up 14 scheduled flights a week.
