Muizenberg Cape Town

Muizenberg

The coastal town of Muizenberg is very close to our hearts, we have operated Uyaphi.com for here for over 7 years now, and yes still absolutely love every second of the Muizenberg experience.

Muizenberg offers up the ultimate family beach (which just happens to be a "Blue flag beach") where no matter what the time of day you will find people swimming, sun tanning, surfing or just going for a walk. The waters of False Bay are way warmer than the Atlantic Ocean side so one can actually go for a swim here without your eyes popping out from the cold.

Just behind the beach there is a row of surf shops and restaurants that offer great food and the chance for a surfing lesson or two. There is also Putt-Putt and Water-slides to help keep the kids busy.

There are numerous hiking routes on offer in the mountain above the town, although one would need a few hours to complete these.

In terms of history there is the "Het Posthuys" dating back to 1600's and "Rhodes Cottage" where Cecil John Rhodes spent the last few years of his life. It is also in Muizenberg that the English defeated the Dutch back in 1795 to take over the Cape Colony.

If you have the time and you are in need of a walk, the 30 minute walk down to the St. James tidal pool is well worth the effort and views are amazing.

All photographs have been taken by us here at Uyaphi.com with the sole purpose of showcasing the coastal village of Muizenberg Cape Town.
