Kalk Bay Cape Town

Kalk Bay

Kalk Bay believe it or not started life out as an area were lime was produced from seashells (hence the name Kalk), the town then became the centre of Whaling in the mid 1800. These days Kalk Bay is packed with restaurants, coffee shops, galleries, antique and second-hand bookstores all waiting for you to wonder the streets and visit them.

No matter what road you take to enter the town you are in for one scenic surprise. Boyes drive from Muizenberg is the most popular and scenic but then again so is Main Road from Muizenberg. Truth be told either way is as good as the other.

Another way of getting to Kalk Bay is by train. Park in Muizenberg and catch the train down to the village and with the Ocean and tidal pools just out the windows makes this one veryscenic option.

Kalk Bay still is and always will be a fishing village so on saying that we are begging you to stop and walk around the harbor. The photographic opportunities are simply amazing and finish the walk off with a meal that either the "Live Bait" or "Harbor House" restaurants. You will not regret this little tip from us.

Peak season (summer) the village gets very very busy, but take your time, relax and enjoy the views, a parking spot will open up eventually :)

All photographs have been taken by us here at Uyaphi.com with the sole purpose of showcasing the Kalk Bay area of Cape Town off for your viewing pleasure.
