DAYS 1/2/3:
MURCHISON
FALLS NATIONAL PARK |
»
Departing from Entebbe - we take a seven hour drive to Murchison
Falls National Park. We will spend three nights here, two at
the Inn on the Nile River Luxury tented camp, and one at Sambiya
Lodge to allow us to walk in the nearby Budongo Forest
»
At 3840 sq km this is Uganda's largest park, and is home to
elephant, buffalo, all the big cats and is well known for its
birdlife - Shoebill being a sought after rarity. It also has
a large population of hippo and huge crocodiles. As well as
game drives we will take the cruise up the
Nile River
to the foot of the Falls, a magical trip through some beautiful
scenery. (Cruise not included) The whole of the Nile River is
forced into a gap only 8m wide - the immense force of water
and the views of the Falls are awe-inspiring
»
Budongo Forest is an isolated block of the Forest which has
never been logged, and is characterised by its huge mahogany
and ironwood trees. This afternoon you have the option to track
chimpanzees in the forest with the guides, or search for some
of the rare birds such as Chocolate backed and Blue breasted
Kingfishers, Black billed Turacos and White thighed Hornbills.
Because of its remote location lion, leopard and buffalo are
also present as well as seven species of primate |
